I’m guessing QA was gutted during development, and QC is understaffed. I can’t prove that, but the current state of affairs has the stench of short-term-bean-counter-decision-making that caused long term problems. <I’m talking about incompetent upper management, not the people that actually work for a living.>

They didnt fire their QA staff, though they have tended to lay them off and hire temps over the years. What happened recently is they told them that QA and CS are not considered career tracks, and those who do those jobs will not be treated as well as those who are in jobs that are considered career tracks. And as Mike Ybarra said, “We want our employees to be happy. If this doesn’t make you happy, you know what you need to do.”

In other words, QA is going to be an even lower priority than it was up until now. Employee turnover in QA means inexperienced workers will miss bugs and test less effectively.

The downtime would not bother me if they were making an effort to fix longstanding bugs. But I guess they don’t care about those.

As frustrating as it is, the latest expansion has priority. Within that, game breaking bugs go first, then those that impact playability for a large number of people. Last in the matrix comes cost/resources to fix. So something that is low priority and high cost (time or resources), is not going to be fixed fast, if ever.

I saw that and it certainly made me angry. Good QA is priceless and NOT something that should be relegated to a starter job/replaceable staff. I agree totally that less experience means much lower quality and more errors. Further, not supporting QA means not giving them time and resources to do what they need to do. Short review times, pushing games they said are not finished, etc. I don’t blame QA for decisions that the Suits make.

QA - here is the list of unresolved tickets and their impact/priority. Game is not done.
Devs - game is not done and we need to work with QA to resolve at least X issues.
Suits - You get only this set time and won’t be able to solve all the issues so pick the worst, get them fixed, and we are launching anyway!

I think that applies to nearly every product everywhere these days.

Given they didn’t fix the issue with the chest piece on

I wonder what they did do during down time???

Hopefully fixed the issue with missing rewards from last month. Although that armor set is really nice when it has the tattoo top done properly. I am surprised they released it with something so easy to test broken. It is not game breaking, but it is frustrating.

You want it to work or not? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

The head piece also clips in the chest depending on what race you have it on. I want to buy it but it has to work first.

It is annoying, yes

coding is not an exact science. One code may break another code when things go live. Thus the devs try to fix the code right away and give us a fix as sooooon as possible. I don’t object the the downtimes. It doesn’t hurt my game play. You know what does hurt my game play? The fact that the cool now mount doesn’t show up and my mail wearing character is half necked because the armor isn’t showing properly. TY Blizzard for being on the ball with the quick fixes. You guys rock!!!

Yeah
providing real value to your employer

My parking spot is sweet.

To fix game breaking bugs that arose due to conflictions with latest patch or update. For all those saying blizzard used to only do tuesdays and blah blah blah
4 hr maintenance most times
at the long end. Prior to cata, almost every tuesday servers were down ALL day. No exceptions. So take an hour here through the week to not have a full day wasted. Qqmoor

wrath still had hotfixes galore, along with other stuff like Swifty and his ilk decimating the servers by abusing bugs.

If you got past the login queues, you had to actually get out in the world and play, because Dalaran was crashing all the time.

it’s interesting how people only remember the stuff they want to remember.
