they ainât fixing nothing is the problem. iâm still pink i have to do the weekly multiple times to just get credit when they the souup hunts whatever up and this is been going on for awhile. btw the weekly the the hunt this week itâs amazing i ainât seen one hunt up this week and have been on multiple times but nothing lol but sure we fixing things.
While that certainly IS a great goal, sometimes that is not possible if they want to actually fix bugs instead of leave them in game. This one hour down time is minor compared to the extra down time and instability we had in Vanilla, BC, Wrath, etc.
The goal to keep the game up as much as possible has not changed. They have gotten to the point where Maint is an hour, or rolling restarts sometimes. Up time compared to the earlier years is much improved.
The first goal is to have the game working for as many players as possible. That comes before anything else and always has (the definition of âworkingâ will vary depending on who you ask).
What you seem to want is that they donât fix things no matter what, except on Tuesday. That would not be healthy for the game. They already bundle minor things and save them for Tuesdays, they only do other Maint if they need to.
This is flat out wrong, I played all three of those expansions and at no time was the game taken down multiple times a week every week consistently since launch of the expansion.
Is there any place that tracks downtime per expansion? I would love to see what the downtime has been for DF vs the first few months of Vanilla, BC, Wrath.
I think everyone is in agreement that they want bugs or issues fixed. Where it becomes problematic for folks is when it cuts into the time they have available to play the game. And then when it happens repeatedly, the mindset shifts from being ok with the bug fixes to âWhy is this always happening?â.
Iâve been playing the game since day 1; I remember the long downtimes. But like anything, you expect improvements over the years so those issues go away due to the improvements. Which now are scheduled downtimes, posted in advance, instead of spur of the moment 9 hour down times.
Game goes down for 2 hours to fix a bug or 2 and youâre on the forums being a baby âcause game down, idk what to do with my life in my momâs basementâ
Because itâs full of bugs and problems because QA is bad. Whether its because of insufficient testing, or overzealous release cycles, or some combination of these, buggy releases are being rushed to live servers and the servers have to endure much more maintenance because of all the problems.
I had some time to play before I went to work and multiple times now Iâve been met with maintenance during that time. You wanna tell me to do something else because I get to play about 4hrs a week and half the time thereâs a stupid maintenance. Get off your high horse.
The so-called, âhardcore loyal fans of WoWâ, characterized by sticking with the game during itâs declining years, the type of person who frame their posts to shut-down opinions and priorities that arent theirs, who tell OPs who posts questions such as yours to âgo touch grassâ, cause they are in the camp itâs okay to suffer multiple, extended outages as long as new content gets out FAST cause they are the ones who consume content at an extraordinary pace, want new content in spite of any downsides for getting stuff out fast.
Blizz caters to this player base.
Leadership at Blizz exploits their employees (see recent comments by them announcing scale back to promise bonuses) and doesnt value their QA and CS teams (something about those being ânot long termâ careers.
