Why is the burning legion in Maldraxxus?

Almost like that reaction was expected, so by using a literal two second shot from Legion, they could show that yes, these are actually those felguards, not something similar.

There’s a difference between reading into something too much and stopping to think.

I mean, in a game where most of the models are repurposed from another existing skeleton to save time, it’s not that farfetched to believe that those were possibly new creatures shown in an inconsequential flashback during a montage, and not just a stock location of felguards in the same pose waiting for Illidan and his gang to finally show up a few years later.

Are you honestly comparing the effort of quickly illustrating in the picture to picture style of these videos, to fully fleshing out a skeleton and animating it in game.

Yes, because both are animation shortcuts.
Before they clarified it, people were debating and questioning whether or not they were the Legion since it was a weird way to casually drop that people from the death realms are fighting the Legion without addressing it beyond that.

Repurposed skeletons is not the same as a literal replica of a scene with other elements added to demonstrate it is a prior instance in time.

i do not believe Blizzard would choose to take such an obvious shortcut for the sake of cutting costs in a time when MMOs are in the decline, they’ve been hemorrhaging MAUs, and it these videos are so meticulously made for months.

The expansion hasn’t even launched, how could you possibly say it isn’t being addressed? This is insane.

And for your information, it is addressed. There are world quests where you have to reseal some previously existing portals to Legion worlds because the Legion has found them and are trying to come through into Maldraxxus.

Not in the cinematic.

It’s a cinematic that’s a few minutes long meant to tease and give some crumbs.

Each of the cinematics have provded lore crumbs:

  • Bastion = what’s up with Uther’s soul splitting? What’s up with what wound on Uther that resembles how Eyir’s scars flared up when Sylvanas used the soulcage on her?
  • Maldraxxus = what’s up with Draka going to the Legion world Illidan later went to? Is Akarek actually dead or did he fake his own death like a super Master Spy? Why is Draka a key?
  • Ardenweald = if the big Wildseeds are Wild Gods, and Mortal Souls assigned to Ardenweald become part of the Court, Hunt, or Groves, what are the small seeds? Are they normal animals that get fed to the Wild Gods? Is Ara’lon extracting the anima from Ursoc’s seed the same as 100% absolutely killing him, or, like IRL seeds which can be stored for decades and centuries, one simply needs to add water/anima and Ursoc can be restored?

Etc.

Y’all expect way too much exposition and explanation from a teasing preview cinematic meant to spark interest. Where are those critical reading/viewing skills?!

Do we know it’s actually the same world? Or is that an assumption because they reused assets?

The reply was deleted, but this is what WoWhead said:

Afterlives: Maldraxxus director Brian Horn has confirmed on Twitter that Draka visited another world in the cinematic to steal a map from the Legion.

I really don’t like this feigned hindsight wisdom that everyone “knew” it was the Legion when it was only a speculative theory until it got confirmed.

We know, because it’s obvious.

They later confirmed it because people felt like asking.

By that logic, do we know that any of the characters we are interacting with are themselves, or are they actually Dreadlords in disguise?

This is ridiculous and really is simply rooted in a deep-seated and embittered lack of faith in blizzard story-telling, which is 100% your personal prerogative and is normally fair, but in this case it is absurd.

So there’s absolutely no way the Legion uses similarly-shaped forts across multiple worlds.

Again, critical reading/viewing skills!

“Hey, the Blizzard artists made this cinematic scene a 100% exactly replica of this other cinematic scene”
