Why Is Striving For Exellence Looked Down Upon In GD?

“There’s nothing wrong with <insert your playstyle here> as long as you don’t want the game designed to accommodate you.”

If you have to be a tryhard you ain’t even good. Being good comes natural.

Passive aggressive much? Way to turn a sentence into an insult.

FTFY

Skill can be learned, I believe by most players-- Unless you’re me. Skill just planted straight into the ground when I hit about 40.

Something, something old age.

I am not picking on you Fecks, I promise, but this is a bit of what I was saying earlier…

Nothing the OP stated should have made him seem like a tryhard. People are not reading posts.

In my short experience in this game, I’ve got to know many types of players. Very very few, almost like spotting a falling star are those who indeed excel, not so rare but still few are those who give the vibe of trully putting effort to exellency (and I put a lot in that word).

The rest are ppz trying to be good and many trully are, but only that, good. After all its a game.

Now, I don’t condem any playstyle average or good but the problem is that usually this slightly above average player who thinks themselves excelent, like to bark a little too much and criticise others, creating a bad image for those who do an are usually low profile.

TLTR Excellency is not frowned upon, arrogance and self conceit is.

Players “striving for excellence” have no monopoly on being looked down upon.

Very true. That’s part of the hate cycle as well.

I have no idea what point you’re trying to make. You took that sentence and turned it into an insult targeting someone who (according to the context) you didn’t even know.

If that’s how you “help” people, no wonder you feel like you’re being targeted.

And rightfully so. Respect has to be earned. Try it sometime.

I understood your original post.

Usually just the ones who gloat about it and start demanding LFR being removed or acting like people are scrubs if they don’t raid or run M+, etc.

And that’s my point.

The problem unfortunately is twofold.

“This is a video game, not a job and therefore not a single shred of effort, time, intelligence, knowledge, skill, competition, communication, luck, repetition, etc should ever be required for any reward in a video game.”

… That sentiment is far too common amongst some of the casual populace here. Not all of them, but not an insignificant amount, either.

Wait how was his post an insult? Are you okay?

It most certainly is a thing.

“Hey there! I noticed that you were pulling (instert number of DPS) in that last fight. Did you know that you’re easily capable of pulling (desired number of DPS)? I could help give you some pointers if you think it’d be helpful :)”

“hey baddie lrn2play ur class and stop being a complete tard look at my ilvl and do what I tell you to do”

See the big difference? The latter is the more common and is tailor made to draw as much resistance as possible. While it’s not the standard (I like to believe) people rarely take the time to actually be nice.

“Why should I waste my time with someone I’m never going to see again?”

Well here’s a thought: if you make a friend you just might see them again.

I agree with you OP. Of course, I would never say that, because I am like, 100% more humble than any other player, but I know its true. If other people were just good enough to be as humble as I am, everyone would be happier. Except we know they are not good enough to be as humble as I am.

Yes this is sarcasm and an attempt at humor

Because a large portion of young adults in today’s society have no stake in the world, have no goals or ambitions, suffer from social isolation and live in fear from an imperfect world.

So they lash out at other people, both out of spite and pain. They need help more than anything. And so the best recommendation is to ignore them, and help if they’re willing to lend their eyes.
