Suramar was buzzing with archaeology tonight. It was awesome
This is an earthly understanding of history, hinged largely on the idea that people who - say, founded the United States - are dead. But no one dies in the Shadowlands. Everyone there at the invasion was still there.
What the brokers are doing isn’t archeology. It’s theft.
But people do die in the Shadowlands, and then they’re gone forever. Like the Paragon who fell during the Void attack, she’s gone.
I miss archeology, that was one activity i could do to getaway from negative groups and just relax.
Heck, Shadowlands is thick with the passage of time. An entire House fell in Maldraxxus, half of Revendreth is in ruins, even the bits not destroyed by the Light, the only really timeless place is Ardenweald and there still had an ever-fluctuating population of Old Gods waiting to be reborn. The fallen are everywhere.
ok fine, then they should have had archeology in Shadowlands. I’m not having this argument.
i wish they would, it’s a cool profession
No one does it because at this point the only two things you probably want from it are Zin’rohk and the ultramarine bug mount.
Not really.
On the one hand, archaeology should play more like a metal detector and less like submarine warfare. Hitting the same button over and over again for a spyglass to spawn that frequently gives you bad directions is annoying. It should just be like a metal detector where it’s always on, and gets hotter the closer to your intended target you get.
On the other hand, archaeology should mostly give flavor and fluff rewards. Stuff like cosmetic recolors of fan favorite gear sets or hi-res re-creations of them, mounts, etc. And instead of random RNG sets, it should instead grant fragments, which you then use to complete a set. So instead of waiting for Zin’rohk to set up, every time you complete a troll archaeology site you get a random variety of archaeology fragments, of which some are probably Zin’rohk fragments.
Like that quest in northern Maldraxxus where you’re hunting for the invisible eyes?
I like that idea.
More or less. Or like Marco Polo without the blind folds and pools.
