Blizzard: “Dracthyr, take it or leave it. That’ll be another 25$.”
I mean you can just say you want mobility/interrupts/cc.
We already had races for both cc and movement if they were really the goal. People are still gonna be playing NE or Dwarf at the highest levels though, since Shadowmeld and Stoneform are better than tail swipe or buffet. So it’s not p2w or whatever.
Do the scalies move faster than other priests?
We’re kind of desperate for some burst movement speed - but not desperately enough to go reptilian!
They get double jump, which is technically faster but not enough that it matters at all.
The biggest perk to Dracthyr is they get Wing Buffet and Tail Swipe. That’s two extra CCs.
But surely they’ll remove those because they’re concerned about there being too many knockbacks in the game…

I mean, admittedly being a shadow dragon sounds a heck of a lot cooler than waddling around casting holy spells as a dragon.
I think Blizz long ago lost familiarity with the concept of what a priest looks like and how it should play if we’re at the point of fire-breathing dragonkin donning holy orders.
The issues Priests faced in DF was that Raz had a pushback and Tindral had roots. Dracthyr as a race wouldn’t help there because you needed to use Rescue which only Evoker has.
For M+, Dracthyr is top tier with Night Elf for Priests. Shadowmeld in itself is strong, but playing Dracthyr gives you 2 extra CCs.
Also, they’re making it so you can stay in perma visage mode so you don’t have to deal with the dragon model.
The thing here is if scalies jump + glide work with angelic feather movement.
Feather, fade fly away might actually be a thing.
Let’s all embrace our inner dragon then!
Once I can find the PTR I’ll hop on and play around with Dracthyr.
I feel like Shadowmeld is too handy to give up because I use it all the time for world content and you can even Shadowmeld + res people while in combat w/ trash during M+. It’s good for wipe recovery and dropping boss mechanics as well.
It’s 45% faster.

also, speed? 40% feather speed and you will like it
meanwhile even paladins can run faster than us
I say this from the perspective of combat. I would way rather have rocket jump than double jump, for example.
Apparently glide/hover is 45% faster than walking according to another post.
Soo as much as I utterly hate Dracthyr, I feel gimped by priest mobility in arenas right now.
I for one welcome our benevolent masters who hath graced us with convenience for the low low price of 25$
Does leveling a fresh character not count anymore? Takes like 2-3 days.
I’m never playing that stupid garbage race. I thought it was a joke when I first saw it. I still can’t believe it’s real and it’s despicable that priests can’t get some movement and cc abilities or a kick and that holy can’t have ANY aoe healing in a dungeon.
I kinda like it. But not enough to change from Earthen unless things really get sour.
I might be playing my tank in keys anyway.
