Why is nobody talking about this?

How has blizzard not clarified anything yet

I had to drop $15 to resub in order to get access to classic; I havenā€™t played since Cataā€¦ & now Iā€™m getting the entirety of current retail for free? Lmao.

Really speaks to the confidence in their product when the game that came out a decade ago is $15 more than their steaming multi-million dollar turd pile that is BFA.

Thatā€™s some hard core reaching.

So you seriously want new people who want to play WoW to pay $300-$360 just for the game and expansions before even figuring in the cost of the monthly subs? What have you been smoking?

Iā€™d like to suggest that next time you go out to buy a new car, you INSIST on paying the sticker price. Donā€™t ask for a reduced price as someone else may have paid more and that wouldnā€™t be fair to themā€¦ right? And NEVER, I mean NEVER should you personally buy something thatā€™s on sale. Someone else paid full price and you must insist on paying the original full price. See how stupid that sounds?

If itā€™s fake, thereā€™s nothing to clarify, really. Plus this is Labor Day weekend in the U.S., a major holiday, and this just popped up. Theyā€™ve probably given at least some of the serfs who might otherwise be dealing with this the weekend off.

So itā€™s better to have to pay $420 to get access to the entire game right now despite most of it being old content? That $60 got you two years of entertainment, which is a long lifespan for any game. Itā€™s totally worth it.

Then it becomes free as we move on to the next one. If it wasnā€™t free new players would never join because itā€™d obliterate their wallet. Entire consoles donā€™t even cost that much.

Yā€¦umā€¦ The $15 is simply a sub for access to both games. Every new expansion, they ad the last one to the base game. So were you to buy the base game, youā€™d have up to Legion for free.

Andā€¦Classic isnā€™t $15 more than Live? Itā€™sā€¦the same sub?

But go off, continued your anti-Blizzard hate rhetoric. I canā€™t convince you otherwise.

Also:

This is apparently exactly what this guy wants. If Blizzard giving expansions is ā€œa lack of confidence in their gameā€, I guess he wants folks to have to go out and buy every expansion before anyone can play the current one. Seems like that would be more of a cash grab than this promotion.

Some peopleā€¦

How is that even considered reaching? They wouldnt give away something for free unless they stand to gain something I.E. Money. Or do you people not understand how a multi-billion dollar corporation works?

Whatever it is, I hope they brought enough to share with everyone.

Do you get this bent every time any company gives anything away? Or has a sale? Or any of a million other things all businesses do to bring in more customers? The only issue I am seeing is your complete inability to understand what it is businesses should do to grow.

You have zero concept of how business or capitalism works.

Is that not exactly what we all did? Was it not expected back in the day to buy each expansion?

I see a lot of people saying some of us are blizzard hater. I dont hate blizzard. Im very thankful for the game they created and the people I have met through that medium. That doesnt mean that my head is so far up my rear end that I cant call them out when i see something thats wrong.

That is reading too much into it I believe.

Assuming though that was the motivation behind it, it still doesnā€™t strike me as unethical. No different than a grocery store putting items on sale in the hope that while you are there you will puck up other things as well.

You really donā€™t see the difference between paying 40-60 every 2 years and paying $300 upfront? Really? I refuse to believe anyone is this clueless.

Pretty sure anyone who gets to 60 in WoW Classic around this time would take one look at that offering, chuckle, and say: ā€œNo thanks, you can keep it.ā€

Plays BFA for nearly a year. Complains when after said year itā€™s offered for free to some people to try and boost player count. Really? I could see the point if it was fresh off the heels of launch. But after a year?

Okay I will admit that the usage of the term ā€œunethicalā€ is a reach. That doesnt mean that this isnt wrong.

Perhaps, but it would motivate me to level a guy through classic just to get a free boost for one of my little potatoes waiting patiently for a bit of love.
