Why is master loot still not in the game?

Forced personal loot is one of the stupidest decisions blizzard ever went with, and are restricting players due to one of their “designer vision” problems, similar to conduit energy. If players don’t want master loot, then they are able to join or make groups that have personal loot.

Because they don’t want to deal with all the tickets that master loot generates

At a bare minimum, remove the functionality that prevents voluntary trading of an item, when it’s the looter’s highest ilevel for that slot.

it’s not a “designer vision” problem.
it’s a “players won’t stop being jerks” solution.

master loot in an all guild run shouldn’t be a problem.
and if players in guild don’t like it, they are free to join another guild

If you don’t like master loot then don’t join a group that has master loot, master loot works perfectly fine in classic.

Combine all the bad threads about SL , all the bad threads about BFA and all the bad threads about WoD and you dont have nearly enough threads to compete vs the amount of bad threads master loot generated over the years , thats why its not in game anymore .

Basically the same reason they have to censor more words than required , people just push it to far like always .

that’s not entirely true, we’ve seen more than a few dozen threads on reddit alone complaining about ninja looting.

if ML will make a return, it should be limited to only guild runs.

Then report ninja looters? If you don’t ask for loot rules ahead of time then you’re asking for it. Master loot worked fine for 15 years, if you don’t want master loot in your pug then join one that has personal loot.

guild runs only-- take it or leave it

If that were the case why did it take them so long to implement this change?

If you don’t like master loot then leave the group, take it or leave it.

This is it.

seems i’m already winning since blizzard removed it and it’s never coming back. I gave you a compromise that most players would agree to, but you seem to be focused on having it returned for pug groups.

not.gonna.happen.

This would still create issues as people could invite others to a guild, then kick them out afterwards.

Guild != loyalty

I think there is a case to be made for master loot, and also the old need/greed roll, in how it makes the gear feel more tangible, and a part of the social experience of the game. The RNG deciding not just the gear that drops but also anointing the chosen few who receive it does make the gear feel even more like mere numbers on a sheet. I get the intention of it, to reduce the arguments and ninjaing and whatnot. Those are good intentions. But it also took a large degree of control out of the players’ hands.

I don’t know whether or not I’d vote to revert it to the way it was before though. Hard to say.

that sounds like a lot of trouble just for a few pieces of raid loot.

If you don’t want master loot, don’t join a group/guild that has it.

if you want to play classic, go play classic.

it really didn’t.

they didn’t design and refine a whole new loot system because the existing one was working well.

Because this is Blizzards game and they dont care about how you want to play it. Its that simple. They tell you how to play and you take it or leave it. Thats the current design philosophy. Which is why so many of us have stopped playing.
