They were onto something with the whole no-gear-in-PvP thing but I guess too many people complained about not being able to gank newbies.
Gear is always going to exist at that level and PvPers can have that advantage if they do higher end arenas, while PVE gear is a huge problem rn its still possible to get high ilvl through arenas and he can’t complain about other people gearing their toons when he doesn’t.
You don’t get to call them like that.
That is true it was nice when ilvl didn’t scale with rating but it makes sense for it to. And they weren’t this extreme because high ilvl gear in pvp could be had by even people with 500 cr if they won enough but thats not the case now.
Problem is a good portion of players hated templates. It didn’t give variety of options for play. Want to be a crit heavy fire mage? Nope template focused on mastery which dictated your play style. I like how it is now however, gear from the loot box should somewhat scale with content. 415 seems reasonable maybe even 420 as you can spam +10s and get higher.
anyway… bring back vendors
I’m not complaining about gearing, I’m complaining about the unfairness of random BG matchmaking.
If I cared about gearing in mythics/raiding, I would, but it’s a huge unfun slog IMO, can’t be bothered. Been there, done that. In Legion.
I’m pretty much ilvl capped, other than random TFs, at what I can get from any other non-rated/non-premade source.
Getting constantly stomped in randoms has been a source of frustration instead of fun.
If things don’t change, I might have to leave the game again. This time for good.
This topic is an attempt at changing the current state of things, which is objectively terrible for anyone not farming mythics to stomp people in PvP.
Back in WoD and before, we’d get stomped at first but eventually we would overcome the stomping with enough honor gear/a few conquest pieces.
The PvP side of things was A LOT better then.
I agree, I used to only be a pvper and this expansion I’ve mainly done pve which sucks but pvp is in a bad place with how much healing there is and unsatisfyingly low dps output
I see so they can’t find the benthic gear vendors.
I don’t do all that much PvP but I have gotten a lvl 400 weapon from a quest when I did a essence on one and for alliance the weekly wPvP gives you ilvl 415 so I am not all that sure your information is correct on that.
Item level rewards in Random Battlegrounds have also been increased by 30. During the first week of Season 3, end-of-match rewards will be capped at item-level 415. This will require Challenger rank to earn. Beginning in week 2, Challenger rank rewards will be item-level 420.

Gives you a complete schedule of PvP rewards you get from capping conquest each week. I see a bunch of ilvl 430 gear there.
love oneshotting undergeared people with 40 stacks of chaos strike buff.
templates were the worst thing for pvp. no personalization and the stats were chosen by people that don’t even play the game. and no, not everyone plays the game the same way.
everything has already been dumbed down enough to where it’s just… well dumb.
imagine not knowing the difference between a pvp and pve vendor
I didn’t get the entire point of your post to be honest, it seems like you are trying to pick a fight about what I don’t know.
Wish there was still pvp gear like in wod.
Lower ilvl than pve gear in pve. But boosted illvl in pvp. WoD had many bad…but pvp gear was not one of them.
PvP won after a random BG caps at 395.
In order to get 430 gear from your weekly cap you need to cap 500 conquest eight times. That’s absurd for an alt.
Yes so. Tell me what kind of gear you could buy from the vendor after a single bg before. Not too much if I recall. The better gear took more time to get.
Pve should require pve gear.
PvP should require PvP gear.
And I’m not just talking separate vendors. No, no, no… I want it to be that you would go to a vendor, buy your basic blue PVP set BECAUSE it’d be mandatory to wear it to enter into PVP. From there, you’d keep using that blue set (whatever trinkets/rings you want) until you can then BUY better PVP gear from vendors.
This would include weapons, too.
Make pvp good again.
'K, someone please explain how - in 5 minutes - to get a toon to 380 ilvl in terms of the ‘off slots’ you can’t get from 385 benthic?
You could eventually buy BiS PvP gear until Legion.
Legion had templates and the artifact was the issue until catchup measures were add.
There is that AV vendor right now that sells 380 rings and some other gear. Crafted trinkets are ilvl 400.
Why do you need to get 380 in 5 minutes anyway.
