Awhile ago, they added a report feature to report people selling ‘services’ for boosting, etc. And for a very, very short period of time, they seemingly were banned if they spammed those messages in LFG chat. But now…? LFG chat is FLOODED with “service” messages. Like non stop. I have a few hundred people on ignore, and it doesn’t seem to matter. Its an endless stream of “services” being offered, not actual groups trying to make a raid/quest/dungeon happen.
So is this just… the way it is from now on? This is it? You HAVE to download and install an extra ignore addon and spam use it to lower the amount of spam in the LFG chat, or just not use it at all? Maybe I’m missing something. But if I removed my entire ignore list, the chat would be running at like 20 messages a second on Faerlina, most being selling HoS boosting services, 2nd highest will be GDKP advertisements.
Again, if I’m missing something, I’d love to know. But they did add tools to combat issues with the LFG channel, and despite them being in, nothing has changed. In fact its likely worse compared to TBC. Even ONE active GM could just auto silence certain players. But the report function takes ages and those people just make or buy new characters/accounts.
LFG should be a useable tool/channel. It is only getting worse and I really, really hope it becomes an actual useful tool, but it would require Blizzard to do ANYTHING to prevent the spam.
Oct 10. RDF will offset it somewhat. It should drop off some of the dungeon traffic anyway.
Barring a killer sale price the 65 to 70 pens boosters and 75 to 80 HOS boosters should fall off. Even ugly runs save gold, they have that going for them lol.
Gamma and raid will still get some message traffic probably. retails does for ksm and raid carries. But the regular heroic and normal dungen services should drop a bit.
I mean, you’re not wrong. It should drop off a tad. My main issue is that they said what they are currently doing is against TOS. All these players signed, agreeing to it, and yet nothing happens when they go against it. LFG should be for LFG, not to sell services. If I want to find a dps for Gundrak or a fill for Ulduar, I shouldn’t have to be in the same channel as people spamming their upcoming GDKPs + HoS/HoL boosters (which take up the majority of all messages in LFG atm).
Again, 1 active GM could see these messages pop up and just cancel it, but I suppose thats too much to ask for.
Edit: and again, I’ve put A LOT of people on ignore. I have an addon that extends the amount I can ignore and I’ve reported… hundreds of people spamming services in LFG. Imagine a person who doesn’t. Their LFG channel is likely spamming so fast you can’t even read messages as they come out. It’d be like a twitch chat with 15k people in it. Just non stop spam
First thing I do on a character is type /leave 4 as unless I’m specifically looking for something it’s just a whole lot of background nothing that takes away from any real chat going on in the immediate area.
RDF coming isn’t really the point. Blizzard changed the foundation of the game to stop boosting from happening in TBC and took action against WTS Boost spammers.
That ship sailed fast. Boosting (and advertising in LFG) is still happening and the terrible changes made in the game to stop it from happening are still in the game.
it’s only benediction where its 90% bots and RMT twitch streamers, so chat is full of RMT spammers and all the x mlg players selling arena rating for real life money.
Benediction is the cheating/hacking/RMT server.
You don’t see anyone doing that on Grobbulus or Faerlina really
I’d see maybe some of the 60 and 70 twinks giving cut rates for the respective final 5’s there.
Once RDF is in all they have left is trolling the CTA AV’s really. Cut gold rate a run is better than 0 lol. I’d be assuming many pvp twinks double dip and run some of these slave pens boost runs.
I’d not blame them either. Eternal 70 in BIS? I’d put that to work for gold too.
