Why is "kicking without comment" so common in leveling dungeons?

I have been keeping track and roughly one in five dungeons I have been kicked from without warning. No messages in party chat, no messages in say chat, and when I try whispering people to ask why I never get any replies.

This behavior does not make sense, I saw some people in stormwind say it is bot groups that kick real players but also sometimes people totally are adadading which bots never do before the kick comes in.

30 minute debuff is like salt on the wound, I usually log out and play something else until it ends, but the whole time I wish I could still be playing worlo. What is the deal with this? Why is it so common?

Blizzard does not care, i agree the 30 minute de-buff is way too long. A lot of people will defend it but imo they are just enablers who love the suffering of others.

You’re probably doing something arbitrary someone doesn’t like cause they’re miserable irl

system is busted but blizz can’t find a solution

because classic players are not normal people and will do anything to make other players suffer, even if it means having to suffer themselves

I always have at least 2 characters going so I just switch to a different alt and just keep playing. Doesn’t bother me at all if I get kicked.

Do you have any thoughts as to why?

The only constant is you.

Going to be honest.. is anything in 5 mans even dangerous? Kick.. not kicked.. its kinda like.. passive healing just tops everyone up and move on. That is why no one really cares I would imagine.

Im going to call bs on this. You would have to be doing something out of the ordinary and selfish to be getting kicked this often. I havent seen kicks in that many dungeons while leveling, let alone getting hit myself with them. In fact, on my most recent character I leveled the only time I can recall someone getting kicked was because they were afking and basically sandbagging the group. So there’s absolutely something else going on, probably lying about the frequency or withholding what youre actually doing, to get kicked this much.

sometimes if you’re dps isn’t high group just vote kick you
or if you’re not healing the insane tank who pulls everything! “once tank dies, he vote kick you”

they don’t bother to even tell you anything because they will get a replacment easily anyway, also i believe the reason no one reply to your whisper is expected because why would they talk to you if they kicked you in the first place?

I for one never vote kick anyone and i never press yes on the vote, since most people vote kick for unjustified reasons But sadly the system allow you to get kicked if the 2 others pressed yes.

It’s like this in most multiplayer games these days and mimics peoples behaviors in real life. 20 years of playing wow, and the game and players are in the worst state it’s even been.

The only real solution is to get into a good guild, or play with people who don’t do things like that. Stay out of General/LFG as much as you can to avoid the negative creeps.

Can’t keep everyone happy! They gave the most unhappy people a button to get their frustration out and it really comes off as a lazy after thought.

If one person in the group is being a turd, how hard would it be to just message your top group performers and set up another dungeon group? Not hard at all is the answer. But the bandaid fix was to put a kick button with a debuff.

I’ve leveled and tanked through MoP and every time I’ve seen it used, it’s because someone in the group is trying to Challenge mode run a normal leveling dungeon. The player that gets kicked is either too slow or does not know the fights. What a way to teach someone…Kick them out with no warning and then make it so they can’t rejoin for a half hour. That’s a GREAT teaching tool.

It takes less time to send a simple message saying, “Hey try and keep up with us” or “don’t stand in that fire please!” and in the end, you’re helping someone who is new learn to play the game a little better. All positive things. But here’s casual dungeon spammer Andy and his loot gauntlet celestial run that he HAS TO GET DONE RIGHT NOW LETS GO HURRY UP I GOTTA FARM MY WELFARE TIER GEAR SO I CAN SIT IN ORG AFK.

Not gonna lie, I have that set. And I speed ran through SM for it and my Sha-touched gem. But I did so in silence. Why would I take someone else’s game time and enjoyment away from them because they weren’t playing how I wanted to play? Oh, I wouldn’t and didn’t because I’m not a try hard sweaty jerk at the bottom of the barrel player base with an elitest mindset while running random dungeons. But apparently, rather than reenforcing positive play and helping people with a “thumbs up!” system or anything positive, they add a vote kick and 30 minute debuff. Lazy af, catering to the worst kind of stained 3 week old musty sweats.

I’ve leveled 5 characters up to Pandaria level over the last couple months and have never been kicked. You are definitely doing something wrong. Try asking someone from the group next time.

I’ve kicked people for being afk, ninja looting, pulling constantly when not the tank, pets taunting, or messing up mechanics repeatedly that get other people killed.

You do not get kicked for no reason. It doesn’t happen.

I haven’t had an issue in leveling dungeons but I have seen votes come up for weird reasons. Especially when MoP first dropped and people were angry with pandas. They usually didn’t pass. I did get kicked in a celestial but it was totally my fault. I wasn’t paying attention and pulled some mobs in one of the Scarlet dungeons. I think it’s just a game of luck with the group you end up in.

Agreed. I think timed content (cms and eventually M+) were the absolute worst thing Bliz ever did to this game. All it’s done is trained everyone to rush, that nothing matters but FAST (even when there is no timer as evidenced by the proliferation of this idiocy in classic) and morphed a large part of the player base into super toxic meta slaves (that’s mostly M+ in retail) but still.

Encouraging speed above anything else was a massive mistake. It destroyed the game, toxified the playerbase, and alienated everyone who isn’t a speedrun meta junkie.

Gotta love it when the “must beat the imaginary timer that doesn’t really exist” tank ZOOMS way ahead of the oom healer and pulls a boss when only they and one of the dps are even in the room so the healer and 2 dps get locked out of the boss fight… tank and that dps die to the boss, then they want to votekick the healer for daring to have a mana leash slowing them down.

Timers = worst idea ever.

:100: Completely agree. The need to attach a timer to every. last. thing. is what made me quit retail. It’s sad to see it bleeding into Classic.

It’s a common mistake among men of a certain age to confuse “fast” with “good.” A pity that population seems to have so much overlap with the development team.

i was kicked once from a heroic just because my dps wasnt high enough so yeah it happens

I was once healing a Deadmines inferno run. We got a pug tank from Bennie. (something in the water on that server, i swear). Anyway, said pug was a full sand flea* tank. Rushing for no reason the whole time. I was barely managing to mana up and catch him before he died several times.

So we get to the boat room. A guildie with me asks in instance chat if we could go kill the named parrot. (I have no idea why he wanted to do this, but he asked). Tank ignored the question. So I chimed in with a little sarcasm:

“This tank is trying to beat the imaginary M+ timer so we get the super secret special bonus loot at the end for being fast. He’s not slowing down to let me drink, he’s 100% not going to go out of the way to pull an unnecessary mob. That would cause us to fail the timer.”

This (according to my guildie) resulted in the tank trying to votekick me. It failed. So, the tank spent the remainder of the time we were in there verbally attacking me for daring to say something negative about “going too fast.”

I’ve find the ppl who rush all the time for no reason get REALLY seriously butthurt if anyone says something about them going too fast, or asking them to slow down or so on. So, yeah, the timer nonsense has definitely toxified the playerbase.

*Sand Flea tank - a tank that RACES through an instance as though they have an army of undead sand fleas chowing down on their nether regions and the can of flea killer is on the final boss.

Related to the Sloppy Sand Flea tank - as above but they don’t even wait to see if the healer is in range before pulling stuff (or if everyone is in the room before aggroing a boss resulting in most of the group being locked out)

i agree with you 100%

Same reason why NYC is about to vote in a communist USA hating mayor and will suffer because of it. A ton of people “blue haired *diots” vote against their own self-interest.
