Jaina has almost always been one of the most powerful mages on Azeroth. It’s not recent or all of a sudden.

Jaine is about middle of the road when it comes to lore based magic users. Also, she’s always had an aptitude for magic and has had some of the most powerful mages act as her teacher at one point or another. Also, she’s a named characters. All the named characters are powerhouses.

Jaina isn’t even that powerful, she just said mean things about the Horde a lot so people started complaining over and over that she’s too strong.

Khadgar has equal feats of insane magical power, maybe even more. Gul’dan and Illidan have both accomplished feats of near godlike potential. The only reason Jaina seems more powerful is because she benefits from all the new storytelling tools.

The biggest thing she did was raise up a boat using a supercharged version of a spell every Mage has access to, and making the air so cold all the Blight sank into the ground and stopped choking people. Yes, she did almost flood Orgrimmar… with the help of one of the most powerful relics of magic in existence. And Thrall was still able to go toe to toe with her and not get turned to paste.

She’s very powerful, yes, but she’s far from alone in that, or even the most powerful. As for why, she was trained by Antonidas, has a natural talent for magic, is very studious, was trained by Aegwynn, has power from the Thunder King, and has spent the last 15 years dealing with every crazy situation known to man.

Please, don’t compare Jaina to Zelda. Zelda at least actually has a reason why she has power, Zelda’s a darn incarnation of the goddess who commanded the lesser goddesses to even give birth to the triforce.

Good thing this “woke” movement is losing steam. It’s starting to become universally hated by the majority after it killed Star Wars and Marvel.

As well as hurling people who wouldn’t hurt a fly under the bus, destroying their lives and laughing at their misery a certain “Alchemist” and “Pirate” if you know what I mean.

I mean those are still making loads of money so I wouldn’t call them a failure.

However I don’t defend that “Snowflake and Safespace” crap. That was just stupid and I’m gobsmacked that was made.

Agreed,kinda glad some of the ladies are getting a chance to shine a bit more IE- Jaina’s needed closure,Liadrin and Thalyssra getting more screentime,Shandris showing herself to be more level headed and reasonable than Tyrande, Talanji potentially becoming a good leader to her people,etc. Don’t get me wrong, I seldom have issue with the guy lore characters [save for racists like Garithos and Garrosh from MoP on, they can go step on a sharp D4 dice] but they did get the majority of the spotlight for the past decade where some of the women got little to bugger all agency [and when they did they turned evil,got killed horribly or went bat guano crazy] so it’s nice to see the World of Warcraft NOT be a total sausage fest in terms of agency and characters being awesome.

I’ll never understand why people would go full neckbeard and get so defensive about this. Do they want the game to have only dudes saving the day or something? [sorry to quote Elastigirl “Leave saving the world to the men? I don’t think so!” that would just be boring] In Jaina’s case, she busted her butt studying under the tutelage of powerful mages like Antoinadas [spell?] and the late Rhonin, inherited Aegwynn’s old staff and when the mana bomb went off was exposed to pure mana which would most likely give you a helluva powerboost if it didn’t kill you.

There is no lore, it’s plot armor. What happened in the past 2 expansions made Sylvanas 20x stronger than she was in WoD? Nothing but she is a main character in the plot so why not.
