Why is it okay to replace Malygos and not Ysera?

the reason at it’s core really doesn’t matter. the story doesn’t write itself. resurrection really just shouldn’t be used there is no excuse.

TBH i came to this thread thinking that this was what it was about. I know its very controversial but if you look at BFA almost all the main lore characters with screen time were female characters from Princess Talanji, to Jaina, Jaina’s mom, and that evil chick who betrayed kul’tiras. To Azshara. Where the troll King Rhastakhan was shown as dumb, ignorant, oblivious, and dead weight then was killed off. Then Nathanos was killed off in prepatch to shadowlands and was never brought up again. Now Malfurion is going to get killed off for Ysera. Female Empowerment Yeahh!!!

I think trading Malfurion for Ysera is a good move because of what it opens up.

I think that they are making trade because they want to tie Malfurion into the cosmology storyline. Thus he’s going to be learning stuff.

The greatest example of this is Star Trek The Next Generation. They set Worf up as being a total badass and great warrior, so each week to show the baddie was tough they would have them beat up Worf. The end result is that people viewed Worf as a weak character who talked a lot of trash.

They did the opposite in DS9 with Worf, he started out as this like disclipined and decorated officer, but fell in love and got married and then lost his wife and was a really strong character emotionally. DS9 Worf is so much better than TNG Worf by far.

I couldn’t agree more. Worf after DS9 is easily my favorite character in all of ST. I’m SOOO glad they redeemed him.
