Why is it now an issue? FOMO

you can stop XP at level 69 or whatever to stay in chromie time. and at any rate, that isn’t related to the “zones, the quests, and get a lot of MoP themed pets, transmogs” you mentioned before.

and again, most of those collectibles are available in retail right now

Why are you doing your best to argue semantics instead of just acknowledging the actual point, that people want to play Remix and NOT have it be FOMO/limited time?

People really like the idea of Remix.

They DON’T like the idea of it being FOMO/limited time.

Why is that so hard to understand?

it’s not. but then, i also think it’s easy to understand that blizzard doesn’t want to (and can’t afford to) commit to maintaining everything they introduce forever.

i’m going to head off the “but they don’t have to maintain old content!!” argument by just pointing to the dungeons & raids forum which currently has at least two active threads with complaints about mythic eonar

People want an evergreen updated version of Chromie Time.

People are telling us that players asked for this because they want an evergreen updated version of Chromie Time.

This is not an evergreen updated version of Chromie Time. So this is not what people asked for.

It would be much better if it was an evergreen updated version of Chromie Time. Why people react so aggressively to that fact is not something I understand.

I thought I had been making my opinion about limited time events/rewards clear over the years. The only reason I wasn’t louder about it because people would just reply “oh, you’re just jealous of cutting edge raiders/gladiators/etc” even when I was talking about promos and such.

Suddenly WoW is flooded with limited-time events. Guess what: now that it affects more content I play, I still hate it. HATE it.

(note: I’ve made the choice a while ago that this isn’t a hill I’m gong to die on, but I’m also unlikely to ever be completely at peace with it, so expect some grumbling from time to time)

Yeah I think it can be true at the same time that there have always been limited time things in the game and also that they seem to be coming down the pipe every other month ON TOP of all of the seasonal temptations now.

It’s just disingenuous for people to act like PS and Remix are just normal because there is a recolored mount reward for seasonal KSM. It’s not on the same level imo.

I can’t speak for everyone else but for me FOMO wasn’t something I complained about. I just didn’t play WoW. Now that I’m invested in it, I don’t play retail at all (although I’ll be on the pandaria remix for fun) and it’s because it’s not fun, personally.

It’s a nagging feeling that I’m at the wrong place at the wrong time. Obviously this is a personal issue however it does exist, regardless of your own personal issues with it.

FOMO can either lead to people joining or it could lead to people leaving. I don’t know. I’m working on changing my mentality.

They’re just being incredibly inconsistent. It started with adding tcg items as twitch drops, then suddenly the trading post started having removed items so now players are bothered that the line is undefined.

I’d rather see none of that stuff made easy /free to get but since blizzard opened that can of worms they may as well take down the dam and be transparent about their intentions with time limited items. I understand when its time limited people will push to play so they have something, if its coming back in a year maybe they’ll relax a little, there’s personal growth and lessons to learn on both ends but blizz is being malicious (no matter how minor) towards its playerbase by teasing exclusivity then 6 months later re releasing. They know what they’re doing and the only definition is being manipulative.

that’s the best approach. FOMO is not exclusive to video games, and it can impact peoples’ lives. screaming at blizzard is (at best) a temporary fix for one aspect of a person’s life, but letting go of that fear helps you across the board

It’s just a hot new buzzword some people in the forums have latched onto like gatekeeping.

How did it come about? Blizzard is now trying to give us things to do instead of a year long content drought at the end of every xpac. Truly an unethical company.

Exactly. It’s funny how everyone thinks asking for CMG recolors is ‘‘cool’’, but asking for WoD Elite recolors, well… ‘‘cricket sound’’.

PVP is something what 95% of the community does not enjoy doing.

This.

I don’t care about PvP FOMO because I never PvP’d.

ugh…oh yes…wikipedia–where people actively campaing to expand or change the meaning of words to suit a narrative.

FOMO = fear of missing out. That’s all. All of that other drivel in Wikipedia is most likely OR and someone’s opinion of how it plays out.

FOMO is a GREAT marketing tool. People whining about it means it works.

More people are entitled these days and feel like they should have access to everything because they pay the sub fee.

Just let these guys have their new word FOMO. Kinda funny what this Gen can come up with when it comes to slangs. We already had our fun like going to a Jackson, Paula, NWA, Run DMC, and so on Concert, Superbowl if you were lucky to get a ticket, and for the super rich they got their dream cars and yachts so just let them have their funny FOMO. I already went full circle going to near all States, got to go in a aircraft carrier cruise from Alaska and back to San Diego, Went to an Anime Expo when it was still nothing only 5000 people and no cosplayers…lol. Yes real people in real clothes and now those sellers are Millionares and got to shake hands with the Legendary artists that were alive like Mikimoto and so on. Met up with Gainax when they were just holding 3 suitcases and 2 VHS tapes. Look at them when they evolved to have successors to be Gaina, Studio Trigger, and Khara. Oh those were the days before I hit 21. After that my FOMO wich you guys like to say are statues and making anime computers. Yep do you know how much a collaberation case will cost once the event is done from Asus or MSI…ummm yeah A LOOOTTT!! I also use to collect watches but that to boring for me…lol. So now as of today it is just kicking back and drinking my coffee

Its always been an issue just now its gotten worse to a point where even the player base of dung eaters is having enough.

Seriously, I don’t understand the people crying. It is a staple of MMOs, just like it is real life. You experience things as they come and they don’t just stay around. I have to believe it’s all just new players.

We were never fine with FOMO. It just always used to have an allotted time frame. We could never really out yell the ones telling us to shut-up. Because the time frame was there and sorta reasonable.

But no real time frame is not reasonable at all. And so the FOMO must now be discussed.

At length… because now we have a far better case.

I always was fine with FOMO.
