Why is /follow disabled in BGs?

The /follow command was usable in BGs all the way through launch of Pandaria, yet it’s disabled in classic BGs.

Weirdly enough, the jump glitch/exploit is still a thing in AV.

I expected Blizzard to be selective in terms of how authentic they wanted the Classic experience to be (Craftsman Wilhelm gone from LHC, no Kill Morphaz quest to get caster amulet etc) and thus I’m not surprised by this.

Multiboxing isn’t botting and doesn’t violate the EULA. Also bots don’t use or need the follow command.

Because someone followed a dev around in a BG and he disabled follow in BGs the next day.

This is the God’s own truth.

Probably true; Blizzard is known for their pettiness.

So Blizzard is a pro decepticon company?

PvP system is completely broken but these are the exceptions for #nochanges we need.

Calling the jokers in charge now “Blizzard” is a disservice to the real Blizzard that died years ago.

They have made a lot of changes to realign Classic with how they think Vanilla ought to have been . For the most part people haven’t noticed. But others be like, well, okay, but no more changes.

That change shouldn’t be there nor should the reporting for AFK be there. There are a lot of changes that are minor but add up to a lot when taken together.

It’s disabled because they don’t want you to /follow in BGs.

Any more questions?

I have one of my own. Why would you want to /follow in a BG? The only reason to follow is if you have to go AFK. There is no place for AFK players in the BG. Play or get out.

He doesn’t seem red to me. Strange.
Anyway, I feel sorry for multiboxers because they’re too scared to play the game the way it was designed. Everyone knows Blizzard only allows it because they’re sucking up extra money from the suckers.

Oh look, another L for the nochangers. What a shocker.

I’ve seriously been trying to find this and all I can come up with is the following.
1-- a forum statement by Bashiok, which explained that /follow was disabled because of bots but that Blizzard was OK with the fact that this gimped multi-boxers, because boxers had long been a target of complaints from solo players.
2-- a Twitter thread following a comment by Ghostcrawler/Greg Street, based on the multi-boxing side effect of the /follow disable. “The problem is when multi boxers are having fun in PvP, everyone else often is not”, he wrote.

Gregstreet? The paladin on Fairbanks? That one?!

Gregstreet… how could you?!?

What are you talking about? Multiboxers were able to do bgs using /follow in vanilla.
