Was it really something that was breaking the game so badly that is needed to be removed completely? Were/are marks hunters DOMINATING competitive pvp to such a degree that it necessitated the deletion of an ability from the spec’s toolkit? Something Blizzard has rarely done in the history of the game.
I’m not even a particularly huge fan of the ability, but it was something that really fit the “Sniper” aesthetic and spec fantasy of marksmanship. It just seems very heavy handed to get rid of it entirely because of PVP.
Hunters could 1-2 shot with it so yes. Too bad there’s not as much focus on say Rising sun kick proccing 3 times for 150k+ dmg, lightning bolts from ele/enh doing the same, ‘the hunt’ from DHs with an immunity animation hitting that hard… etc.
one ability being situationally powerful doesn’t mean the spec is dominating. Marks doesn’t seem to be anything more than middle of the pack at best in pvp. Either way, they could adjust double tap so that it doesn’t work the same way in pvp, rather than removing it all together.
So it’s busted in pvp. That merits it being removed for EVERYONE? Even raiders?
How about instead of going with the nuclear option add a little “Reduced damage in PvP by 50%?” if it already had that, make it even higher? Just straight up removing a core ability is a wild heavy handed decision that is very uncharacteristic of blizz.
The simple answer would be remove the pvp talent that grants 70+ range but then they would have a hunter revolt.
Option 2 is remove aimed shot instant proc again revolt.
option 3 just go with revolt and remove a talent choice the paladin nerf stick way.
I’d like them to buff the replacement more. A nerf to the burst, but MM already has a lot of weaknesses. Poor survivability, mediocre sustain, their 2 target damage is basically single target damage, has to land traps to do a good amount of their CC.
