My ignore list is going to be full because I’ve come across the most disgusting, vulgar language in lookingforgroup, trade and general chats. Why?? What is so cool about being gross in a public channel?
I guess I’m sensitive but it’s legitimately gross, and if these people talk/think like this in real life I can see why they are forced to outlet on videos games. It’s really not that funny. I’ll report as many of them as I can see but for the love of the Light STOP with the s3xual references in public chat.

Like what?
Also you can get Global Ignore List if it’s nearly full.
I’m not going to reference or repeat what I have seen because I don’t want to get forum banned. Imagine a trp profile of a goldshire inn moonguard player. But make it worse. It’s not swearing, that’s not a problem to me. But like I said the s3xual “jokes” are very vile. And no it’s not [Thunderyfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker].
Okay but I can’t give an opinon unless you actually refer to what was said, I doubt you’ll get banned for simply refering to something.
EG: saying that a woman/man “gets around”
Isn’t there a profanity filter you can click on? I don’t know because profanity doesn’t bother me, but I though there was one. And chats on Atiesh aren’t very vulgar anyway.

Profanity filter only removes what they consider to be inappropriate words, that doesn’t help if someone uses a number instead of a letter, or changes the word and still keeps a reference. Specifically I’ve started an alt on Mankrik to play with a long time friend of mine and it has been… an experience for sure.
If you have anyone on your ignore list other than gold/services spammers, you are weak and shouldnt be on the internet imo.

I can’t imagine caring what some random person on the internet says. You are in complete control of how others affect you, and if you let it bother you…they win.

Welcome to the internet, 4 post guy who has totally never encountered foul language on the internet before.

I think everyone is missing the problem. I don’t care about it outside of wow. This is a fantasy game where I come to relax and not think about the real world. Defending “foul language” shows me the type of people you actually are.
Also just because YOU see that I have a minimal amount of posts doesn’t mean I wasn’t active years ago on the forums. Welcome to retirement, Williamferal.
It is a form of publicly exposing one’s self anonymously and getting away with it. I wonder how far some will take it???
This has to be the dumbest reason to report someone, especially when you are a member of a guild named “feet”
Going full Karen just because someone said a few words you consider to be no-no words says a lot more about you than it does them.
All this cancel culture is trash and you should just grow a thicker skin and move on.

You people will not change my opinion that I should not be seeing anal and oral s3x references on a game rated for age 13 and up.

I’m not defending that behavior. I see it a lot on Pagle in Trade chat and LFG. But just because the game is rated M for mature, it doesn’t describe the people playing the game, only the content in the game itself.
You gotta remember that most of the people playing Classic right now are older folks from the glory days of WoW. I would venture to say that most of us here are 25+ at least. Heck, I’m in my 30’s.
The only real advice I can give is to report the trolls and put them on ignore. Even if what they’re saying might not necessarily break the ToS, where they’re saying it most certainly will. Trade and LFG chat are only meant to for the purpose of trading and looking for raids/dungeons. And the trolls seem to treat it like Barrens chat. But I feel ya, just gotta try not to let it all get to ya.
Ah yeah I guess that would explain it. I’m also in my 30s but I just don’t find it appealing to be scrolling thru chat looking for a FL group and seeing someone say something like “i’m gonna shove my [weapon] up your chocolate starfish if you keep posting about your guild looking for healers”
BTW the game is rated T for Teen (13+). I do see what you’re saying about content vs people, though. It’s not just cringy, but seems like an attempt to be funny and no one is laughing. Just gross behavior is all, trying to understand why it’s so common.
No, you’re right. A lot of the stuff they do isn’t very funny. I don’t get offended by some of it, but sometimes it’s just messed up for the sake of it, and some people do find it funny. It’s been like that for as long as I can remember.
If I’m being completely honest. I tend to say some very messed up things during raid with my guild, but I keep it between friends and I don’t say it around people that aren’t comfortable with it. It’s a lot like being in public. Most people wouldn’t get dirty or vulgar around strangers at the grocery store. So you’d have that kind of expectation that people would show some restraint. But because our real names aren’t shown on the net, people don’t know who they are, and they just start acting up in the global channels because they don’t care. There’s almost no repercussions for acting that way, so they just do it.
I really wish they would hire more GM’s so that they could police the chat and stop the trolling. But those days are long gone now :\

Trolling requires a willing ‘victim’.
The greatest power you have is to just not engage them. If everyone did that, trolling ceases to exist. But instead people feel the need to take offense to anything and everything, look to be a victim, and cry out for censorship.
Censorship doesn’t promote good behavior. It just makes people toe the line and find creative ways to get under other peoples’ skins. The true solution is to not react. The world is full of jerks and idiots, and that’ll never change. Just accept it.
So it’s okay for people to go out and throw racial slurs around? I kid you not, there was a guy in SW a few months back that made a toon with a very racist name, and he was spamming trade chat with the N word.
There’s a fine line between trolling, and actually being disruptive. Something harmless like Thunderfury spam, and just a little crude humor here and there isn’t the problem. It’s when people start really pushing it and getting obscene.
If you randomly start going out in public and shout profanity or make disgusting jokes at people, don’t you think they should be removed from that business? That kind of behavior is considered illegal in many places. It’s considered disturbing the peace, and depending on the severity of the offense, you could end up getting anything from a ticket, to court ordered community service. As well as being banned from re-entering said business. Why should it be any different if you choose to start getting obscene in WoW? It’s straight up against the ToS when you sign up for this game.
And to be frank, this isn’t even censorship. That would be more along the lines of being silenced for unjust reasons. Like a harmless opinion, or offering constructive advice.

You would have never have survived Barrens chat or CoD MW2 lobbies. The chat that is in game right now is childs play.
Does my name offend you?
Why do you care?
If someone is saying racial slurs, they’re screaming to the world, “I’m an idiot!”. Ok, so Ignore him and go about your day. It literally has zero impact on you, or anyone else.
Outside of someone spamming, I couldn’t care less the content. I’d have to respect someone to care what they’re saying. So by letting it affect you just gives them power.
