Why is aoe cap prevalent in TBC?

Literally lives to serve no purpose at all. its just another instance of blizzard ruining alternative ways to play the game. fun detected = fun removed

“wahhhh I can’t kill 400 mobs at once in mara anymore wahhhh”

Notice how your not bringing up an actual counterpoint? just acting childish?

I support anything that makes mage boosting less viable, you don’t need to be able to pathing cheese kill 3-400 mobs at a time

Paladin not affected by this lol.

If you’re going to troll do it on a character with more than one post so it’s not obvious

Right its trolling that suggesting throttling mechanics in game are a bad idea.

I have mixed feelings. AOE cap feels bad.

But also, Blizzard used to ban players for abusing terrain to make mobs run back and forth. Now Blizzard sits on the streams of such players and bans anyone who dispels their world buffs.

So, take solace in that Blizzard at least allows cheating in classic, and that even with less AOE damage at least you’re still immortal and the mobs will still die eventually.

This isn’t true. It serves as a balancing point for AoE abilities that have target caps and AoE abilities that do not, primarily for PvE reasons.

This is just you being whiny.

honestly its half crap and half not crap at all.
the only few reasons i can think of its a poor choice in theory:

  • it limits player creativity.
  • it limits player interaction for grouping.
  • it limits player experience overall.
  • and therefore, reduces likelihood of many mage players to subscribe further.
the reasons I can think of its a good choice in theory:
  • it limits many players from exploiting a high number of ingame practices that are bothersome to half the otherss.
in general the reasons why it’s a poor choice outweigh the reasons it’s a positive choice:
in essence, i agree with the OP a little bit its the first thing I’ve heard that’s a little overbearing .

Well first of all it was a change made back in the day as well because blizzard didn’t want certain classes exploring their game.

So what’s their to discuss again?

said the frost mage. my taunt button is broken when it comes to mages in instances unless they are fire. I leveled my mage as fire because I despise frost mages. Case #4812 oh look a frost mage just rounded up all the mobs in the area and is using blizzard. Now I got to wait 5 minutes for the badlands rock elementals to respawn so i can complete my quest. Rinse and repeat for every zone with melee mobs.

aoe cap in TBC so scumbag frost mages aren’t ruining the experience for everyone else.

If you are a fire mage this doesn’t apply to you.

anytime people see other people succeed at stuff like mythic plus people automatically dislike them for no reason, because they are better than they are. its pathetic

I wouldn’t necessarily equate abusing mob pathing to skill.

Says the mage.
