Eh, the Tauren heritage questline presents him as Diet Shaman, and that questline served as foreshadowing for SL
I feel like Anduin would be more compelling if he ever actually responded to how traumatic events are he’s witnessed or been part of. Getting kidnapped by Onyxia, getting crushed by the divine bell, coming to broken shore and seeing what was left of his father while being forced into another leadership position but this time Varian ain’t coming back. As soon as he’s king Teldrassil burns and 4th war happens. N’zoth. Now being kidnapped again. He’s still just a teenager at this point. Him punching Wrathion is literally the only time I’ve ever seen him react realistically to anything thrown at him.
Sylvannas might have taken the attack on her Champion a tad personally. But in the end Tyrande wasn’t abducted, she jumped into the Maw on her own. There’s no mention of Malfurion having been taken.
Tyrande killed Nathanos after the abduction attempt.
Let’s face it, the abductions were only who the writers wanted to use as primary characters for Shadowlands. If you want Blizzard story to be meaningful and nuanced, you have the same probability as being able to light a candle in water.
He was Varians son. That’s it really. He believes really hard, is of course more idealistic than Uther and all other paladins or priests etc.
Velen teaching him, a bit later on, Magni and warrior training were first, does explain it to some degree though.
Thankfully (sadly only) the Sunwell is made out of 50% arcane and the other half is light. So Anduin should never be able to use it himself.
Don’t worry, human is prone to arcane magic. Besides, there is Jaina nearby, who will teach him. And there will be an elemental of Light-Magic.
