Genuine question, asking because I don’t know and want to understand more. I could go read his wowpedia page, but…
I don’t wanna.
Why is Anduin so powerful? What makes him as strong as he is? Has he trained a lot? Is he naturally gifted? Is he just that connected to the Light? If so, why?

My theory is because he is such an idealist he would naturally be strong with a type of magic that is literally tied to your faith.
He also trained directly under Velen.

While he did have the best priest trainer possible in Velen, I honestly don’t know. If the player character had more consistent strength worthy of our accomplishments and constant tapping into various sources of power and I was not supposed to hate his faction, I would not mind it.
It does concern me that if he represents a powerful, good side of the light, he is going to sideline other races, especially Horde side, that have strong Light themes or sides to them. If the Sunwell becomes relevant to this, i expect it to become his to use.

It’s not just his Light abilities, though those are probably the big ones. But also, he seems pretty damn physically strong too. I mean, he beat an Azerite-infused tank to death.
He is using a powerful sword capable of piercing Legion mech armor. In the cinematic, he beats a few nameless soldiers with rather brute force tactics but Saurfang who is distinctly beneath the likes of Malfurion in power was able to send him flying. Nothing really impressive as far as Hero Characters go.
Arguably even less impressive than player characters. If they wanted to demonstrate that tanks aren’t meant to duel infantry in close quarters, where they would have needed their back up machine guns to clear them or friendlies to protect them from that, players would easily do the same.

Saurfang caught Anduin off guard I think. He did the same thing with Malfurion when he threw his axe at his spine.
Anduin’s tactics against a Troll with a shield was to repeatedly, awkwardly bash against it until the weapon and his Light powers could finally deal with him. Saurfang did not exactly have to rely upon surprise.

So you want other people to do the work you already know how to?

The real answer? Human Potential. He, like his father before him, has it.

He’s been involved in war and strife since he was a child and trained as such.
Being a national leader gives you an automatic x500 power multiplier. Being an Alliance leader gives a further x2, and Human a further x5.
Altogether, we’re working with a x5,000 bonus.

Don’t forget the trait of being a black hole and just a voice box where the devs speak through him.
Anyone who has a different opinion needs to read a good fantasy book asap

Barring the obvious point of him being a protagonist, you could ask the same thing of Thrall, ergo why he’s such a powerful Shaman. Neither of his parents are Shamans, and his race isn’t native to Azeroth, and yet the main explanation as to why he’s so naturally gifted with the elements is that ‘the elements like him’. But in spite of his natural power, he also benefited immensely from training under Drek’thar, one of the most learned Shamans in the lore.
Same concept with Anduin. The Light likes him, but he’s also been given the benefit of the best training and education on Azeroth in terms of how to wield those gifts. It’s important to note that, at his core, Anduin is… basically a total nerd, objectively. He’s a scholar who just so happens to also be from a line of warrior kings, his father included, and when his father was gone, he had Bolvar taking care of him.
He’s basically been surrounded by either strong warriors, strong Lightwielders, or both, his whole life, and has never had the benefit of taking it easy, at least not since Varian disappeared pre-Vanilla. Weirdly enough, none of the big lore characters in WoW just poof vast power into existence, they’re either ancient, or trained strenuously and dealt with a ton of crazy stuff, to get where they are.

Didn’t he absorb the power of the Divine Bell or something?

That just gives him a spidey-sense

Should be quite the opposite, but because its God King Wrynn, of course he was going to get special powers out of it
