cloak of shadows was dispel-able a long time ago, but since it was a 90% chance all magic would miss, it was extremely hard to dispel.

because ice block is dispel-able, and both are only dispel-able by priest with mass dispel, very niche circumstance that only happens between two classes interacting with one other class out of the 12 classes. that is why its marked as dispel-able.

i actually agree with someone in this thread that mage’s down side is that they are highly susceptible to dispel, and that should be their weakness.
I had more of an issue with interrupts… try doing damage when most of your offensive and utility is arcane oriented. but they are attempting to fix that with essentially an Aura Mastery trinket.
But after playing mage for about 14 years, i can say that alter time is a fun move, but its not a make or break for a mage in pvp. and if its not a make or break it shouldn’t have dispel immunity.
example would be like paladin wings, without them they really aren’t super scary, they dont have any spam-able cc, if you truly want to get away from them its not terribly hard. they have to use their bubble along with wings if they truly want to get use out of them. Wings for a paladin is make or break, which is why we can’t steal it anymore.
But i played some of the heaviest cc and burst potential expansions, and mages didn’t need alter time to be competitive, and instead of alter time, we used to have evocation that healed (interrupt-able) and we used to be able to take cold snap as any type of mage (extremely overpowered). mages used to be gods amongst men, and they finally gave us some mortality in the form of, hard to heal on your own and easy to be dispelled.
you forgot about warriors also being able to dispel it with shattering throw

press mirror images, un dispellable 30% wall defensive, bam
20% lol and very easy to counter (damage the mage)
damaging the mage is the counter to the wall? I guess everyone’s wall is countered then
