BFA is over.
What are your thoughts on Shadowlands?
Either way, you guys need to stop worrying about the “game director.”
Way too much thought goes into what a single individual does despite there being hundreds of people collaborating on these decisions.
The sooner you separate yourself from blaming one person for things this big, the easier you will be able to identify where you can and cant find enjoyment in things.
I know the feeling tbh though. For me, it was Ghostcrawler. His departure changed nothing, and I never looked back. The game is just not created by 1 person.
Expansion after SL, they should do a game-wide survey, vote on each spec’s best spot by expansion, and copy/paste. Bring back tier. Bring back class sets and resilience. Make gear stat sticks that upgrade like MoP. If they want us to progress, have us go out and find abilities through quests, drops, glyphs, whatever, as long as it’s separate from gear and/or story. Enough with borrowed. Have our classes learn again.
I know the above will probably never happen. It’s my opinion of what I think would greatly improve the game.
You are too kind my dear, and I thank you very much for the compliment.
I’d like to say you’re looking rather hot yourself young Warlock, and with such a great attitude you are a very welcome sight indeed, so I’m hoping you stick around a while.
This sums up 30% of the posters on the forum. It’s hilarious to see players bash the game for being so bad and dead but they can’t stop playing. I love watching them post. They are part of the reason I even come to the forum. lol
Are you saying the game director does not have impact on game design? Of all the people that work on wow, the game director has the biggest input, especially in SL. Remember they fired a bunch of people in 2019. People that could’ve had the courage to question design choices. My big problem with BFA and SL is the design choices.
Go find something you enjoy spending your time on. A forum post isn’t going to get some huge wave of change going. Just do something you enjoy spending your time, money, and energy on. See ya.
Why dont you use a low level toon and halt its level so you can play the part of the game you like cuz you dont like end game material apparently which is fine.
thats a good point Dooarc. With the SL lvl changes, subs will be funneled to end game like never before; thus, change that i would want to see may happen.
Honestly… The new steam review system is making me make terrible reviews intentionally. I get points when ever someone decided to stamp me with a hot-take or “hilarious” Which I can spend on fancy little icons… So why not do things people would consider a hot take.
after ghostcrawler departed there was a massive change in design direction
a leadership role has a huge impact on the design of the game
however, regardless of your bizarre desire to move away from blaming leadership for the current direction, you are correct that feedback is better answered when it is focused on the aspects of the design that are creating friction or an unfun experience
for me, i always liked ghostcrawler and the game was a ton better with him at the reigns - he wasn’t a perfect god or anything but he generated , along with Kaplan, my favorite times of wow
in every single metric the game has gone downhill since the exit of kaplan and ghostcrawler
Ion and his B team of diablo devs design by spreadsheet participation for a given reward that only measures how much a player will endure for that reward instead of the fun doing it. This is also evidenced by their confusion in interviews as to ‘what is fun’ and the redonk amount of system bloat and changing the entire design into seasons of no permanent progression. We just earn the same abilities every single new season/xpac.
It’s wow on a budget nowadays. Generating extra grinds on the same amount of content and making dev costs lower to maintain profit margins, including selling gold in the cash shop and an all but inevitable F2P transition.
