Why I think Race-Class combinations ARE important, and removing restrictions could be harmful

WoD was an alternate universe, so…

Irrelevant because it literally shows us that Draenei are still flawed individuals.

Who’s to say that there aren’t Draenei that have gone rogue to do their own thing?

Incorrect.

Different universes have different rules.

Fine. Then let’s go back to, what exactly is stopping a Draenei from doing their own thing?

In OL we see hostile Draenei poaching wildlife and the PC is tasked with killing those Draenei.

What exactly is stopping other Draenei from venturing from the others like these individuals?

Dear Maldazzar,

You make think this. But very few do. Nothing will be harmful about gnome druids and orc paladins. The importance of class combinations died with Cataclysm. It’s gone man, there isn’t no bringing it back. Rogues with hooves incoming.

Kind Regards,
Keremi

You want to limit peoples choice, others want to increase choice. You won’t be forced to play those race/class combos.

It is not equal if one side wants to be limiting and the other wants to be freeing.

If you get your way people can’t do things they want to do. If I get my way your gameplay isn’t effected.

Their own core beliefs, which they brought with them and haven’t changed.

Except for one individual they haven’t explained.

I’m saying if they can explain that in a satisfactory way, I’ll get behind it.

You know how some beings can be Demon Hunters and others cannot? There’s a reason some of them die in the process and some don’t and become Demon Hunters.

What is the reason this Draenei can be a Warlock and use Fel and not become corrupted by it?

I want that answer, and then I’ll accept that “Draenei Warlock” can be a thing.

Because they’re still Draenei even if they dive into the fel arts. The difference between the Draenei and Eredar is that the Eredar sided with the Legion. Draenei are magical powerhouses and after mingling and cooperating with the denizens of Azeroth, they would come to realize that fel has its uses. Otherwise they wouldn’t have joined either faction and instead been on a crusade to slaughter all Warlocks.

Just because someone is a Warlock doesn’t mean they’re a corrupted individual.

What makes you think Cata destroyed these barriers?

I saw nothing there that relays that.

Rogues with hooves probably should have been a thing from the beginning, so this isn’t a big issue.

Druids, Warlocks, Paladins, and Shaman are specific in this universe and require at least a little explanation as to why a Gnome, for example, can be a Druid given the rules of this universe.

I am not a slave to my culture. An individual can abandon their culture and find one that works for them. A human leaves stormwind and goes to live with night elves and learns druidism. Nothing in lore is preventing this. I’m not everyman joe. I’m my own person. You can’t enslave me to my race’s culture.

The culture also doesn’t become irrelevant or nonexistent because of the PC choosing a taboo option.

In this universe, your origins are set by the DM. You have some set “decisions” to make when you start playing. After that, you are free to explore within the limits of your race and class.

That’s pretty standard in any RPG.

You’ve obviously never played D&D where there is no race/class combo restrictions. You can be a lawful good tiefling paladin. You can be a chaotic evil aasmir warlock with a fiend patron. Individuals make their own choice even if it’s contradictory to their “nature” even if it brings them harm.

The standard also let’s the player choose any race/class combo they want and build their backstory from there.

Depends on the DM.

In this case, the DM is Blizz, and at least for now, they say no.

I’m looking forward to them releasing more options in the future

I’m looking forward to them explaining them in the future.

If they do that in a satisfactory manner, I’ll get behind new combos.

We’ve wielded holy magics since the majority of us served the Tyrant Ragnaros. Our… perhaps at the time misguided faith in him allowed us to use the light. We find faith in other places. I do not believe elemental fire to be inherently evil. The firelands is filled with good and evil like any other realm. I have found the good in elemental fire and while I reject Ragnaros my faith does not waver. I do regret my actions as a servant of Ragnaros thinking him the idol of my faith but he was a false god.

I don’t need an explanation when I’m going to make my own story.
