Oh no! Anyways…
I just want to say, as nobody seems to ever mention this, but the microtransactions are the reason why the sub price hasn’t increased with inflation (at least in the US). A higher sub fee would only turn off more new/returning people and kill the game even quicker. At least the micros are optional. I feel like its a necessary evil.
Idk how much they make from the WoW Token, but its probably the most corrosive part of the shop on the feel of the game. But I imagine it must be a large amount of profit. Not only through sales, but also now that there’s less third party rmt, there can be less GMs. Assuming it actually reduces third party rmt, which I have no numbers on and am just taking them at their word.
But at least they have the trader’s post now where they are putting up old store/tcg items.
Nobody cares.
You won’t be missed.
Are there RPGs that don’t have RNG based gearing or rewards? And if so, doesn’t that get a little boring for you?
I think if you just relaxed and played the game you wouldn’t feel that way. Rng sucks but the gameplay is good so that’s all that matters to me.
Must be the only loot system you’ve ever seen cause this one is goated.
Booo this man !
Solution: Dont post a thread, much like this, on a public forum… Just saying
I’m thinking of watching The Little Mermaid next week!!
So I can’t complain about recycled stuff.
Disagree, the moderation is pretty strict here.
Wow, this is worse than saying “I’ve been playing since vanilla” it’s usually when I stop reading, but you must be really, really old now…
As you do. I may do the same myself, as things with someone I’ve been casually dating may start to get serious, and if that’s the case, I may unsub, I fully suspect if I come back in 8 years the game won’t be the same…and why should it be? If I leave, I won’t be here to say what I like and don’t like…
Well aren’t you someone special?
as i said.
its how MMO’s work youd be hard pressed to find anything that dosent re-use older content in its games to make up newer content.
ether way i feel like people forget this is a 19 year old game and its sorta played out now lol
You hit on the heart of the issue. Modern WoW is a content lite game that relies on a small amount of recycled and repeatable content to keep players engaged. At least in the past, the gear treadmill was fun, you would play certain raids for a cool drop, or farm a certain dungeon for a unique item, but now, it is all RNG slot machine loot to maximize people’s play time.
I 100% agree that the current development team is using FOMO tactics and RNG gearing to keep players playing. The game just reeks of mobile gaming systems everywhere to increase engagement, but none of this stuff is actually fun.
Make a fun game, and people will pay, it is that simple. Resorting to scummy FOMO tactics to drive microtransactions and engagement can only work for so long.
BTW, Classic says hello, and proves that the game can operate just fine without the scummy business tactics.
Then why bother coming here at all? Who hurt you?
Way to show up and validate op
You know they just added tokens to classic right?
And lets not forget the leveling boost and character copy shenanigans, lol.
Or how about the “collectors edition” stuff they sold for a game that is being re-released
Idk I feel the limited per week valor caps and needing a certainly io to upgrade was the crappy thing.
This crest thing you can farm for a while and as long as you have the stuff you can upgrade stuff. Though getting crest to also further upgrade crafted stuff is a bit annoying especially since I gotta get more 16s.
The OPs post covers a lot and is long I’m at work waiting for machines to update so I’ll just chime on on the point about cash shops.
Business is business, unless you declare you are a non profit the goal is literally to profit from your products and services. A business has every right to do so as long as that business is conducted legally.
Cosmetic shops, just as long as they truly and literally are JUST cosmetic items, I have zero issues with blizzard selling such items for real money.
Players that hurl against that as this makes blizzard a horrible company devoid of all morals etc. make me laugh and think “man a lot of people don’t understand business “.
For the record over almost twenty years yes I’ve bought mounts from the store and yes I bought a couple pets (I will tell you those where definitely wasted purchases as I never pet battle anymore so I never use them, use my mounts often.).
Just like people buy tokens and people buy game services. I’ve no issue with it.
When people sell carrying folks in mythic raids for gold (well you can buy the gold) it makes even a stronger argument for how nonsensical it all is.
Preach to this.
I wish I -could- like evoker, truly, but everything about it’s fantasy, theme and otherwise just makes me hate it.
Maybe it’s the Aspects? I can stand maybe…1 of them….out of 5. The self-righteous self-sacrificing “know better than ye mortals” concept, especially by Alexstraza, makes me sick of anything with ties to them…
