when i first transferred my paladin to moonguard i went to goldshire one time to see what was going on. i didn’t have one of those addons or anything and it was mostly people in the inn saying weird, non sexual things, i went back to sw and didn’t think anything more about it. lol. i’ve since made 039485034985 alts here and except if i make a baby human i don’t even think about goldshire. i keep deleting humans though. can’t decide on a class i want for them.
I have pretty much switched to only playing on Moon Guard. The community is actually very good and I am loving the game again, yes ERP exists but generally as has been stated before happens in whispers or party chat. Also if you have the TRP or MRP addon you can see that most ppl have NO ERP stated in their profiles. The server gets a bad rap and I really feel that in general it does not deserve it. Yes Goldshire exists and yes there is bad on Moon Guard but IMO the good far outweighs the bad and I am glad to have found a server that feels alive again.
So where’d you pull this 15-20% number out of? Your behind? I’ve played on a handful of RP servers and my experience has been people are generally nicer than regular servers.
I suppose It’s just alliance that deals with whatever you’re talking about though 'cause I’ve never had to deal with any of that.
Thanks for all your comments. It is good info for those of us who are thinking about RPing.
I only disagree with the comment I copied here. I don’t think Blizzard had any specific intention. There is no “way Blizzard intended”. RP realms are identical to other realms other than a few naming restrictions. Other than that, Blizzard stays out of it completely. It is the players who create the community, whether it is terrific or terrible.
But it’s not good info. I’ve been on Moon Guard, the “meme server,” since Cata and it’s not as bad as the OP is claiming.
RP servers are great.
When the game launched, there were only two RP servers at the onset – Silver Hand (pacific time) and Argent Dawn (eastern time). Generally speaking, these kind of servers attracted more mature players. Names had to fit the environment. Players weren’t required to actively roleplay, they just had to keep the OOC out of public channels (don’t talk about TV shows, etc). Roleplaying was not frowned upon so people liked that and the demand from there grew so more roleplay servers were created.
I’ve played on and off over the years so I did come back to find that Silver Hand had merged with a couple of others. The cross realms seemed to change the dynamics a little bit. Some servers are much more proactive with setting up roleplay events – Wyrmrest Accord comes to mind. In fact, when I want to attend their events, I find a way to get invited by someone on Wyrmrest so I can phase in and participate. Why not do that and see if that server is more your speed? (I’m not leaving mine because my guild is a group of friends that have been together since before WoW and we all voted on Silver Hand so we’re here to stay.)
Even easier way is to just check their battle pets collection since it’s account wide.
Paying someone with gold on WoW to pretend to be dating is rediculous and deserve their internet to be cut out
i tuch ur thi and mak u mone…
This is really making me anxious of my recent decision to transfer my main over to an RP server. It was a very difficult decision given that it has been my home for a decade, and the community is actually mature and decent. And everybody knew everybody. People knew me as the guy who sold Saronite and Titansteel Bars and I just wish I can get the same feeling of community in a more populated realm. /sigh
Yes, I moved to MG from my dead server too, figuring MG will always have a good pop. I have had zero problems.
How long have you been in MG now? I just made the change.
A month-ish
I can’t even find Alliance side RP on Wyrmrest. Where do they RP at? Stormwind is oddly empty.
I guess it’s just depending on the time. I usually play from the late afternoon to the the AMs EST.
And I always see groups of people RPing, or just duos walking around and a lot of solo open RP.
The main area is always the mage area and Lions Rest, Lions Rest is a very hot spot for RP.
Gotcha. I’ll check it out. Thanky!
No, it’s not fine. They’re parasites. Get the hell off the server if you have no intention of ever RPing.
It’s like joining a D&D group and playing your Gameboy the whole time. What’s worse is all the RPers welcoming these selfish nuggets.
I heard joining the Alliance in Wyrmrest Accord is like joining the Horde in Moonguard with the faction imbalance and all. Emerald Dream is also another popular server that is a tad bit more elitist in my opinion, having played there once myself.
Moonguard Alliance isn’t as bad as you are making it out to be unless you go inside Goldshire, and half of the time there’s not really anything going on but people standing around with maybe two dancing.
Everywhere else, Moonguard is actually pretty fine and active, a lot of people chat in LFG so it makes questing more interesting, I noticed also the chat seems to be more filled with sensible people these days, occasionally, usually very late for the US and my afternoon is when the crazy ones, or bigots, or trolls, or whatever come out to play.
Moonguard Horde seems dead most of the time, only on occasionally. Still there, just not many (As for example, my Alliance toons can run around on Warmode and barely run into any Hordes unless it’s on BFA content.
Can’t speak for WrA Alliance, it seemed active before I stopped playing for months, came back and seems less active these days, especially in terms of Rping.
Ewwww goldshire on moonguard needs to be carbonized
