I’m on a RP realm, and I only transferred here back in WOTLK to have a different “experience” in game other than a “normal” realm. My first impression was people seemed more mature and friendly. It’s gone downhill drastically since Pandaland was introduced, although the minimal decline started in mid Cata. I want to transfer off so bad, but I have no idea where to go haha.
I’m assuming we’re talking about Moon Guard (although this sort of thing isn’t entirely restricted to there, but come on, it’s most likely). People swear up and down it’s just Goldshire and everything is perfect and fine if you avoid Goldshire, but it’s absolutely not, at least not the last time I played there for a few months, which admittedly has been awhile by now.
Playing on Moon Guard can be fine, but you have to be willing to put up with the culture there, which includes a large chunk of people always having ERP in the back of their mind when it comes to random walkup RP. I feel like if you want to avoid it you’d have to find the right guild (and certainly not one of the many literal kink guilds that openly advertise).
However, you seem to think this is ALL RP realms. Which… I mean, I can’t blame you. Way too many people hear “RP” and the first thing they think of is ERP. The biggest RP realm on FFXIV is also the ERP den (although they’re a little more tactful about it).
But it’s not. There’ll be people that are looking for that everywhere, but maybe you should give WRA Alliance a try if you are indeed talking about Moon Guard. It’s not as active, but it’s the next best choice and there’s a LOT less focus on “that”. (Although, based on my experience way back at the end of WoD, Moon Guard had a more “real” community feeling in chat at least, despite it’s oddities. It might be a reason to want to stick around if it still feels like that).

I play on Moon Guard and have never run across this issue. Perhaps it’s all about where you’re hanging out, hm? I only ever seem to come across decent story tellers.

WRA’s faction split is like 42/58 at max level or 44/56 if you include everyone. It’s definitely Horde Leaning but it’s not like MG where Horde is like 23%. There’s arguably more RP on WRA Alliance compared to Horde too, at least proportionally. Horde just has more raid participation. There’s usually not a crazy amount of overlap between higher end raiders and roleplayers so it makes sense there’d be more players but not any more RP than Alliance side there.
That said, if OP is looking for a new realm and doesn’t mind Horde, it’s not like going Horde would be a bad choice either, I just assume they’d stay Alliance, which is still totally viable for active RP here.

I played on WRA alliance during both wod, legion and BFA, the RP scene is scarce and doesn’t even pick up til later; The horde on WRA on the other hand is blooming like crazy and there’s more people centered around Org and guilds outside of it than alliance

Not to mention aside from a certain group, I’ve never run across any “hostile” or mean players. Everyone on MG is generally very nice and even they are (generally) nice - it’s the others peoples response to them that’s aggressive. I have no idea what OP is going on about but I can only assume he doesn’t really have a main on MG and is just crappin’ on GS.

YEP! That’s my assumption as well, goldshire is the cesspit of MG and it’s offserver people usually from other realms (INCLUDING OTHER ROLEPLAY REALMS)

Whether people like it or not, Moonguard has a stigma and bad reputation. There’s a fair share of group leaders out there that will insta decline anyone from Moonguard, or a RP server for that matter.
The only reason I don’t really play there.

people always crap on moonguard on the forums, but it’s a really nice realm to be on and the people in general are very nice. idk why people act like we all spend all our time erping in goldshire, but it doesn’t happen. that’s mostly off server people trolling.

Stay away from the place that shall not be names and call it a day.
It’s because they’re trying to get in on the meme. First on all, unless you have an RP add on to read degenerate profiles, you’re gonna end up pretty damn bored just standing in GS to begin with. Other than basic fooling around and being goofs, nothing mature ever takes place in the open. It’s also really easy to tell who actually plays on MG because they rarely, if ever, bring up Goldshire or the ERPer because, well. They’re in SW, Org, Bora, Zan, out in the world, basically RPing or lurking everywhere but.
