the high gnomes? i finally figured out exactly what the alliance needs to combat the relentless horde bias™ and restore alliance pride to our endgame scene.

y’all know those leper gnomes stuffed in the basements of those warlock lounges and tailoring shops in silvermoon? they’ve breached containment, and merged their souls and bodies with their blood elf overlords. the resulting infusion of disease and fel energy has canceled out the corruption of their former forms, and resulted in the discovery of the High Gnome.

this new race, much like the void elf, will see the virtue of the alliance’s ways and pledge to bring quel’thalas back into the blue under a new banner… that of Quel’regan.

representing the great values of intellect, curiosity, discovery, and magical prowess, the High Gnomes will satisfy a niche yet unsated by any current alliance allied race.

racials I think could be something like this

  1. alluring gaze: the high gnome looks at you with puppydog eyes, blinding you for three seconds as you regain your will and sense of self. 2m cd
  2. leper spray: traces of the high gnome’s former diseased form remain, this diseased energy can be transmuted into a deadly ranged attack, much like snakes spitting venom at predators. 2m cd
  3. environmental destruction: destroy the air quality around you, causing all nearby enemies to “drown” and suffer increasing physical damage over six seconds. 3m cd
  4. ultramagic: being both gnome and elf, you are a master of all forms of arcane energy. +4% mana pool and +2% magic damage of all types. passive
  5. mechanical expertise: +15 bonus to all crafting professions and -10 to all gathering professions

I’m in favor of this. Blizzard is never going to give us high elves due to lore restrictions, but high gnomes could re-balance the factions with the right racials.
