Why High Elves Don't Work: A Primer (Part 1)

That is rare thing to see these days. I haven’t seen many Night Elves named Legolas.

I have Leggylass reserved on my server in case I ever decide to make a femelf.

New Race confirmed! Femelf coming to a WoW near you.

Ew, no more elves.

I would love to see naga becoming an allied race

Horde already got too much of NE lore with nightborne. Naga should be an alliance allied race.

What Night Elf Lore exactly? They’ve been closed off since the end of the War of the Ancients. They veered off from Night Elves 10000 years ago.

And half their population wasn’t sleeping half that time either. >.>

Highborne lore is night elf lore. I think the shal’dorei still consider themselves highborne, which is weird because they aren’t even nelves anymore and "highborne " was a nelf title.

They have nothing to do with the majority of Night Elven lore. They go right up until the War of the Ancients and their connection ends.
The war of the Saytr,
The war of Shifting sands,
the Third war.

Multiple things of Night Elven lore and stories have nothing to do with Nightborne.

They got so little.

Zandalari and Darkspear were identical until the Throne of Thunder patch. Then they got their final form with BfA. Just because a race looks exactly like another now does not mean Blizz won’t change it as they see fit, and a story development like bringing them in as an AR would be exactly a reason to make that change.

no they arent. the zandalari are the troll tribe from which all other tribes descended from into subspecies spread out around azeroth. such as jungle, forest, sand, dark and ice trolls

vol’jin even mentions how different they are in shadows of the sun

If you look at models of Zandalari NPCs prior to MoP, they were no different to Darkspear.

zandalari have a reason to look different. blood/alliance high elves are the same people

Not anymore. They may be the same race, but they’re a different political entity. The live in different regions of the world, their culture would have diverged. Fashion, style and culture changes a lot in 30 years.

the schism wasnt more then 15 years ago. living in dalaran is not unique to either group. culturally they are the same, even in game when given the chance they still use the same architecture. the SC itself fashion themselves after the farstriders. they still return to the homeland and revere the sunwell. they call their mage types magisters as well. so what the hell are you talking about

Hmm, how this is somewhat true, it is not fully true. Highborne is only part of the NE lore. The full Night Elf lore actually remains with the Night Elves still.

“High elves and blood elves are physiologically the same race, and they are descended from night elves. Nevertheless, due to their shared history and philosophical differences, the three groups do not share a close relationship. Indeed, night elves regard high elves and blood elves with suspicion, disgust, or outright hostility.”

Yeah, doesn’t look like the High Elves are into the same thing anymore than the Blood Elves.

Fashion and culture still change alot even in the course of 15 years.

Sunreavers and Silver Covenant might be living in the same city but that doesn’t mean they were in the same circles. In cities we have different subcultures with different styles and attitudes. The Sunreavers and Silver Covenant would be different subcultures.

Also the Silver Covenant aren’t the only High Elves, there’s the High Vale Elves, the High Elves on Outland in the Allerian Stronghold, in some of the other lodges and living in Alliance cities such as Stormwind and for a short while there was even one in Darnasus.

You should chill bro. Being testy isn’t going to convince people that you’re right.

can you give any examples. beyond the political whats different

Is this the part of the argument where someone makes up reasons why they’re totally different now based on assuming because one thing happened, another thing MUST have happened too?

Hey both sides have made some good points about High Elves and that, but I am just waiting for the numbers to come into the argument again so I can just shut that down.
