You’re right that biologically Blood Elves are no different than High Elves. But biology isn’t the only thing that comprises a people and that can affect appearance. Politically Blood Elves are very different than High Elves.
Culturally they have delineated and we can see that in much of the fashion. While they both have similar design language we can see that High Elves have a more cosmopolitan style, while High Elves in the Silver Covenant have a more martial style and those outside of the Silver Covenant have a more rustic organic style. Also they are separated by geography. Geographic separation will cause dietary and cultural shifts.
A real world analogy would be if you placed a person from rural Iowa next to a person from Hollywood California of the same ethnic background, they are both human, but it’s likely you definitely could tell a difference just on appearance.

Maybe they need to stop making novels?
As someone from Orange County I have to say rural America is very different, but I only have experience visiting family in Minnesota 
but sorta peaceful if ya feel me
Novels add an area of depth that the games cant. Its how half of the Starcraft universe got developed.
Gotta stroke Golden’s ego somehow. It’s a lot harder to get credit for being a terrible video game writer than to be a middling fantasy author.

No, Blood Elves are high elves. High elves, lower case, are not a political group. The Exiles, Alliance high elves, and the Silver Covenant, like Blood Elves are all high elves. High Elves, as a political group, are no longer around. The status of the Exiles and Silver Covenant is unclear but they may no longer be around, and Alliance high elves are not a group you could draw a player base from. They are just a few vendors and farmers.
Well I mean, you’ve made that up. But yeet.
Then they need to make sure anything that happens in the novels is in the game.
