Why have courts?

So yea I know this is the 10milth time this topic is on the forums today but to be honest IDC today and am just going to go with it anyway.

The state of Cali has made an accusation against Bliz/Acti

Now its their job to prove it in court

That is how the system works.

I dont get why people rush to judgement and automatically label Bliz as guilty and horrible.

These accusations could well be true…or they could be false or misleading sentiments given by disgruntled employees. The state has its evidence and I am sure Bliz will have theirs.

What I find asine is that a few people have said essentially “Accusations of sexual harassment coming from women should be believed regardless of evidence or getting a response from the other side because sexual harassment is so bad no one would possibly make it up”

This is stupid

People lie, companies lie, men lie, and yes women lie

Thats why we have…the court (actual ones, not the court of public opinion)

I am no Bliz fanboy. But they deserve to combat these accusations just as much as anyone.

what about those accusations do you find so hard to believe? and blizzard in their release basically admitted some of them were true with ‘our culture isn’t like that now’ business.

Yes it is. And it’s been an ongoing investigation for two years, in which the AG has signed off on this lawsuit. They don’t do that unless they know they can get a settlement and reparations. You don’t file a lawsuit after collecting evidence for two years if you know you’re going to lose. Let’s use some logic here. They’re voted into that position based off of statistics and cases they’ve won.

I hold Blizzard to the same standard as they did with Swifty and Quinton Flynn. Both of them got accused, Flynn thrown out and everything he did removed. There was no public apology, nothing at all.

You are allowed an opinion.

And peoples opinion of Blizzard is that they suck big hoo hoo dilly.

And especially since it’s coming from a, you know, actual hard source, not some Twitter burner account.

the accusations are substantiated by a two year investigation conducted by the california department of fair employment and housing. you would know this if you read the filing.

Their being sued by the state of California after a two year investigation I’m going to say it’s true

for real. if the stuff in the suit itself didn’t convince anyone, activision’s lukewarm response putting all the blame on the state should have done it. still can’t believe that got past their lawyers

Serious accusations require serious proof. More than just “I said so”.

If I accused a student at my school of grabbing by crotch and saying “Lets get down baby” I would be held to a high standard of proof no?

It’s not about believing, it’s about proving beyond a reasonable doubt.

if there were 10 witnesses to the action though, I wouldn’t need a court to tell me your are guilty.

So you are saying that the simple fact of the investigation being 2yrs long is enough proof?

Why even file a case then? Just go straight to the sentencing right?

No, length of time is not what determines if an investigation proves guilt or not. The RESULTS of the investigation do.

Because courts are slow, and in the meantime people need to reconcile whether or not they want to support a company who very likely did the bad thing? Everyone here pays a monthly fee directly to this company. You can’t expect them to be comfortable doing so while at the center of this controversy.

This was always performative misdirection. We were calling it even back then.

These same people that want to raise the pitchforks have never read the Constitution. It’s pretty simple, they go to college, get dumber in college, come out with worthless degrees that are only useful to pander on social media and they do just that.

The pudding guy’s investigation was longer. Remind me where is he now?

Let the legal process work. The OP is not wrong here. The worse of the allegations came from the same people, not the entire company, and thinking that everyone knows what’s happening in a massive corp like this is nuts. Some departments never coincide.

The problem here is some of these women still work there, and calling for outright ending it all like some are is going to hurt them even more in the long run.

That’s not how it works to these people.

They need to be personally in the room with the lawyers, perusing all the evidence, and determining their opinion of the situation at hand. That’s how it works!

I don’t think you understand why Cosby was released.

FYI opinions do not require court proceedings. There are also enough information in the papers, from verified former employees, and from other circumstantial events for many of us to feel this is most likely true.

Edit: Does anyone believe that OJ is innocent?

Not gonna lie, even I didn’t think Blizz would actually go with the “California is too woke for businesses” defense.

nope - that is criminal standard of proof - they just need to

The standard of proof in a civil trial is on a balance of probabilities, meaning that is more likely than not that the situation occurred

Something something Salem Witch Trials something something.

I’m sure those literally burned at the stake were very understanding of all the witnesses accusing them.
