In Rift, you had different finishers that applied either party buffs or enemy debuffs.
There were short strong party buffs, like an AoE HoT, and longer weaker party buffs, like increased attack power. You could apply either weaker AoE debuffs, like attack power reduction, or strong ST debuffs, like damage reduction reduction.
You had to “twist” buffs and debuffs to ensure that you had two party buffs and 2 debuffs running at all time with burst heals and burst damage reduction to support the healer during boss mechanics.
Given that the finishers required combo points, most people went ranger mix to get fast combo points with quick shot and serrated shot, making basically decent DPS with an insane aura of buffs and debuffs.
