In Wotlk Ret pally was the most overpowered thing i have ever seen in this game and i will never forget the image of my first wsg at level 80,
my whole team got slaughtered by a ret pally that popped divine shield and kept divine storming with wings and killed everyone.
that’s when they originally got the 50% damage debuff in bubble because they were wrecking everyone while invincible.
Ret pallies are a garbage spec, it’s boring and their damage isnt great outside of wings and serphim. they are traditionally either garbage or overpowered due to their core spec design.

Remember when divine shield reduced the damage you deal? Yeah. Bring that back please.
Its funny all the rets running to the defense of their own spec and are in denial about how busted they are. I know this because I have an ilvl 189 ret that deletes people from the game and can never die due to all of my get out of jail free cards.

Blizzard usually does big tuning in big content patches. That being said, if something is seriously overperforming or underperforming, it’s likely that Blizzard will just push a buff/nerf out asap.
I don’t think Ret paladin is that broken to where we need a disruptive mid-season nerf. They have already been nerfed throughout the season more than once at this point.
I mean…1-shotting someone inside of bubble in 2’s is not at all uncommon. That’s a 1-shot while being completely immune to all damage and CC. That doesn’t seem balanced.
Wings + Final Reckoning + Divine Toll + Hammer of Wrath + 9k auto attack crits are completely out of control. Far above and beyond what other DPS specs are capable of in 2-3 globals with zero setup.
If you manage to survive that first 5 seconds, you’ll eat a Templar’s Verdict for a quarter of your health or more. It’s a joke.

In Blizzard’s mind, doing lethal damage while bubbled is fine because sometimes paladins have to fight priests and warriors.
Nerf em or give every class the ability to one shot every few minutes like druids, paladins, rogues, and mages.

its like asking why havent they nerfed druid’s convoc or rogue stuns or fire mages or a shaman’s pvp drain life stun?
Agree, a good player can recognize this and do their best to counter it.
For the OP, yes our burst is wild, I will say the burst in general is a bit much for the few that can do it, when the setup is so easy compare to say like a sub rogue which requires some more setup than ret.
I don’t mind if Blizzard nerfs our burst in place of consistent pressure (40% DP over SOV, mobility, and CS, BoJ hits a little harder than relying on a wing window to be effective). Something akin to MoP/WoD Ret.

I think I have 29% versatility. And last week, there was a paladin who one-shotted me through my triune ward shields. It was like 58k damage pretty much instantly. I haven’t been playing this pointless game all that much ever since it happened.
So many games out there are better than this crap. Blizzard can’t even be bothered to fix the most obvious bs. So why bother?

Ret paladins bave always been tough to balance because of their unique tool kit. Most often they are hot garbage but I kinda like how they are now
Almost as if Blizzard doesn’t know what to do with a support class but when I look at a druid, I began to wonder…
They have numerous times this expansion.
