Um… can you just confirm, are you going to be changing the meta that requires every raider to be a leatherworker and if so how? Right now adding a stronger version of drums only increases that requirement.
Are you saying the drum rotations will remain but the leather working requirement will not?
What exactly is the team thinking other than “lets make drums stronger”?

Thanks Kaivax,
As a Shadowpriest, I love how I will have to use LW instead of alchemy to meet the raid requirements of giving 5% haste instead of going alchemy to provide cauldrons and the alchemy stone giving me more mana recovery from mana potion.
You sure showed them how your change is going to make engi and alchemy be useless in raid and pidgonhole us into LW, you know the thing you said you wanted to avoid.
Sure love having to take a proffession for a single item. At least Engi in classic had tons of fun stuff I could use to ease the pain of taking it for the raid.
Got to love, how you went from “since they would make Leatherworking feel mandatory.” to “fond memories we all have of drum rotations” in the same post

If the goal is to make a profession not feel mandatory, these aren’t the changes that should be made. People are still going to be pressured into being a leatherworker.
Do something else such as making the drums a raid wide buff or usable by non-leatherworkers.
The former change frees up a lot of raiders’ professions and min-maxing raids will use leatherworkers to the fullest. The latter change completely makes leatherworking feel non-mandatory, but leatherworkers lose a lot of benefit compared to other professions.

There’s no easy solution to Drums.
Make Drums raid wide - People still need to be Leatherworking because now you can roll all drum effects
Make Drums not require LW - Congratulations! You don’t need to be LW anymore, but now you’re back to Engineering and still need to carry around Drums
Make Drums have a debuff - Congratulations! You don’t need to be LW anymore, but now you’re back to Engineering

I just don’t understand why you’re making this harder than it needs to be. You explicitly changed drums during the life of TBC because it was so aggressively unfun.
This “change” doesn’t solve the underlying issue people have with drums. Tinnitus does, which is the reason you added that debuff in TBC in the first place.

Do you realize this changes basically nothing about forcing everyone who wants to give maximum effort into leatherworking? It’s stupid easy to clump to 8 yards and a cast time unless it’s like 10 seconds isn’t going to deter anyone from using it. “We don’t want to make anyone feel they have to be a certain profession to compete”. What a lie.

haste is fun
being forced into a prof or be cucking the raid is not

Min-max guilds are going to require people to level enchanting numerous times for the ring enchants. JC will be mandatory as well, I guess we should nerf these professions as well (make trinkets and enchants not profession specific). Slippery slope, keep it up.

Tinnitus was added in wrath. It was datamined in patch 2.4.3 but did not go live until WoTLK
Depending on how the cast time turns out it might be foisted on the support DPS and healer classes in order to support the Lust Rotations. So Every shaman would have to go Drums when they are swapped.
What debuff? It was a cd.
It’s a bit scary how disconnected you guys are from min/max raiding, can you guys not see what a terrible solution this is for them? The playerbase today is not the 2.0 playerbase, they will be using the lesser drums. You’re not nerfing Leatherworking on par with other professions with this change, instead you’re just adding tedious and frustrating gameplay into the mix.
The community has already handed you a dozen solutions that are way better than this. You didn’t listen to them about batching in classic, please listen to them here.

You probably play on private servers.
So we keep the lousy drum meta until Tier 5?
Way to blow it, Blizz.

Yes because +40 healing power is the same as 25% haste(5x5%)
I think you missed my sarcasm here. I think their changes are misguided and ineffective towards their goal of making LW less likely to become the meta. I agree with everything you said
Lol. The player base in classic wanted spell batching for the original feel of the game in 2004. So Blizzard gave us spell batching, then the player base complained again and didn’t want it. #neversatisfied

I think Kaivax botched the intent of his communication… if I read into his intent more than literally what he typed they are trying to strike the right balance of fixing the “everyone has to be a leatherworker” issue, while not completely destroying the value of being a leather worker. I think more changes will come.
What I am unclear on is if they want to keep drum rotations as a thing or not… Kaivax seems to think thats fun gameplay and has “fond memories” of it… I don’t.

good job, you just made the issue worse. Idiots
proving time and time again blizzard cannot fix anything and will just ruin it in the process
