Why greater drums? just add tinnitus

Why is everyone concerned ONLY about drums making LW mandatory and not because being able to have drums effect the whole ecounter make them really OP and bad for the end-game content progression ?

You are not. Blizzard is just that inept at fixing their own game.

Let me give a rough summary of how people have reacted to greater drums:

30% WTF?
60% This is so bad!
7% Arguing if 5 people getting a 5% buff is 25%
3% #NoChanges
0% Positive

I didn’t count up all the posts and do math so my numbers may be off… except for the 0% positive. I have not seen a single post saying greater drums is a good idea. It takes a special kinds of bad idea if no one in an online forum is willing to defend it.

I still can’t believe that this fix was actually serious. I don’t think I’ve seen a more ignorant understanding of the problem in the first place.

We can argue constantly about whether drums are needed or not but the fact remains there will be a small subset of extreme Min-Maxers who will abuse anything and everything to do 1% better and we have already seen time and time again that this has a negative trickle down effect on the rest of the community. Whether or not there are guilds that don’t follow it the entire mentality has a net negative on everything else. This is an objective fact that has been proven consistently over the years.

That somebody actually looked at the feedback and came up with this as a solution is mind-boggling and shows that the team really doesn’t understand the problem one bit, let alone how to actually fix it. that doesn’t bode well for any aspect of the game whether classic or retail when such a simple fix is made overly complicated due to seemingly nobody actually seeing what the underlying problem is.

Insanity.

Most people want tinnitus debuff so you can’t use them again for a period of time, which means they won’t be usable for the entire encounter. It’s two birds with one stone.

Doesn’t fix the need for everyone to be leather workers.

If this is your interpretation of fixing drums just give us the #nochanges version of it would be better than the crap you’ve come up with

Thunder, Deep Thunder and Stormherald.

Obligatory, Is this some kind of out of season april fools joke?
Honestly how it feels.

Yet you completely missed the boat on what we were asking for. Many of us enjoy being as effective as possible for our raids, but were unhappy about it essentially locking out 50% of our profession slots. The Blizzcon round table was encouraging in that you seemed to understand this struggle and agreed that action was required.

Instead of giving us the desired out to required LW that is only good for one thing, you doubled down on it and forgot your previous assurances. Something as simple as adding an exhaustion debuff would have easily accomplished this.

If you’ve now decided that we are no longer deserving of the promised reprieve from Blizzcon, would you mind elaborating on why you decided to pull a 180 on this issue?

I would say I’m surprised at the change but this is why retail has gone the way it has. The concern among almost every person was that they didn’t want to be mandated to fill a profession slot with LW for a drum meta. At the Q&A you all clearly stated you understood the concern and were looking at options to remedy it. Instead you turn around and make LW still mandatory but make drums more of a hassle to deal with. Bravo guys bravo.

I’m assuming that you aren’t a Classic WoW player based on this reply. Many people detest their characters being in ‘buff jail’, yet they do it. It may be out of a personal desire for the best performance, a sense of duty to their guildmates, or something else. It happens regardless.

20/25 raid members having LW remaining viable is similar to the current ‘buff jail’ we see in classic. People will do it for the reasons I listed above or others, but it feels bad. Also, as we’ve seen with a multitude of others things over the years, this trickles down to the community at all raiding levels and does more harm than good in the eyes of many.

I personally play this game for myself and my team, so not having LW on my raiders will be letting my teammates by expecting others to absorb my dodged responsibility.

I got no idea, this is exactly what people wanted lol

This isn’t even a change.

Yes, it is.

Greater Drums did not exist in TBC. The existing drums were buffed. Same recipe, same source, better drums.

This requires we do ZA to unlock the recipe to get the effect on a new item because Blizzard is either too lazy or too incompetent to simply change the item when 2.3 content is released.

It’s always good. Raiders will manuever themselves in 5 man clusters to benefit from the lesser drums.

It’s awkward and unfun.

Yuuup.

I’m sure Blizzard doesn’t want this to be the case, but only a whole raiding cycle of Kara/Mag/Gruul doing this is going to convince them otherwise if we don’t get changes during Beta.

so how does that make it so everyone doesn’t need to go LW you know like they said in blizzcon

Agreed, 100000000% agreed.

That doesn’t change anything though.

People are still going to stack LW.

The whole things with drums are, 1 they are party-wide, which means you have to have at least 1 LW per 5 person party, (at least 5 in a 25 man group). which doesn’t sound that bad right? but here comes the part everyone is worried about. it can be chained. So right after one drum buff ends another person in the party uses their drums to extend the buff and so on and so on. the LWs you have, the longer your raid will get a haste buff. Coming from a community that obsessed itself with world buffs, People might start doing this as the new meta. causing LW to be a must-pick profession. That’s the worry anyways, whether it happens or not is up to Blizz/The players.
