Why even have factions?

Blizzard there is no point in factions. Make all races be able to “switch” factions like a warmode toggle.

I wouldn’t be happy with that. I like the horde being a collection of monster races, and I feel that would just water it down more. I get the appeal on an individual level but eh. :frowning:

I’m sure down the road something of the sort is going to happen. Still waiting for Turalyon blow up and start a crusade of his own and potentially drive a new sense of moral dilemma where we can choose to be the new “Alliance or Horde” without Racial concerns.

After all, can’t have Warcraft without War in its name, just won’t be based on Race anymore. Well, I can only hope that’s where its all going.

That sure would free up my horde mounts!
And it’d be nice to play a vulpera in stormwind on my honeybee.

We got cross faction grouping and now cross faction guild. Baby steps. You can’t just drag the screaming masses into it. Imagine the forum posts.

Single undead hunter looking for gnome heavy alliance guild.

Truthfully speaking, all I really want going forward is for Blizzard to break down the language barrier and let H/A characters chill in the other’s respective capitols without war mode on. I miss playing my undead mage, but I don’t think she’d ever willingly support The Horde again after BFA.

People, be patient. We are getting there. The changes are happening.

Sounds kinky.

As soon as both sides got elves, it became a moot point.

Worgen on alliance and blood elves on horde ruined the concept of horde being the monster race.

I agree with OP would make gameplay much much better… of course blizzard gets money from faction change premium service so… we will see (luckily subs are tanking so much they need to bring back players and conveniences like this are popping up).

There might still be some grudges among the Blood elves, Night elves, Zandalari, and Worgen to start conflicts.

Ah yes, the monstrous races of

checks notes pretty elves and kawaii fox people.

Crosd faction guilds are going to be super fun. I dont think people have found the best part yet…

Oh, mage decided to spend every boss pull standing in fire? Would be a shame if upon leaving the instance they wre GANKED!!!

Same guild ganking will be halarious. Cant out run me now, i see what zone youre in.

“Hey night elf, look what I’m cooking.”
-What’s that chilibean?-
“Broccoli.”
-Uh, okay good job?-
“Do you know what we call broccoli at my house?”
-No… I don’t. Why don’t you tell me?-
“… Trees…”

I agree but the last thing I want is for that to get even worse.

Yeah and it probably won’t surprise you to know that I don’t enjoy those races either.

That ship sailed and has been out to sea for longer than it was at port, though.

I’m aware of that. I just want to enjoy what little of it is left, and seeing even more elves, and then humans, dwarves, etc. hanging around horde cities wouldn’t be something I’d enjoy seeing.

It also gives me this really icky thought of, after how the horde’s been written for the last two faction wars, exactly what kind of alliance races would even want to associate with the horde at this point? I genuinely have a hard time fathoming any positive stories of characters coming out of that.

For the record, I’m all in for cross-faction grouping. Never had a problem with that; it sucks not being able to play with friends. It’s just thematically, I know I wouldn’t enjoy having the horde in-game diluted even more.

At this rate, players should not be tied to a faction at all and choose their allegiance(s) and switch (them) whenever.

They’ve existed for the last three decades. They are part of the backbone of the franchise. They aren’t being demolished because of people who most likely started playing post-WoD and think they’re “pointless” or “archaic” or what have you.

This is absolutely not something they would do, or would probably even be capable of doing. Your choice of faction is part of who your character is, both factions’ races define what they are, and the faction you chose affects so many things like quests, reputations, and transmog appearances. The two are inherently intertwined and aren’t something you can change with the flip of a switch, hence why faction changes cost $30 and take time to process. I had difficulty typing this reply at first because seeing this crap being spouted again almost made me break down in a fit of rage.

How would the game even handle some of the things that don’t carry over between factions right now? Would your status with faction-specific reputations flip to its opposite faction counterpart, or would you have both? Would switching factions in Orgrimmar teleport you to the Stormwind portal room, or would the guards in every capital become friendly to all players so you aren’t instantly killed 5 seconds after swapping? I don’t think anyone ever thinks these ideas through beyond thinking “I want it”.

I have to wonder why so many zoomers on this board insist on dismantling everything that makes everything in this game unique, usually for the sake of “modernizing” it by making it more like FFXIV.
