Why even have factions?

I want to be an undead alliance in a mostly gnome guild.

Why have races?

I look forward to the day when I can dance naked on top of all the Orgrimmar mailboxes without being attacked :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I regularly vacation in Germany, Japan, and Vietnam.

Lovely people, lovely countries, great food.

they’re not going to get rid of Horde & alliance. it’s built into the IP, it would be a mistake to mess with that. plus i doubt they’ll do that with metzen back on board :dracthyr_blob_dance_animated:

anyway, no one cares that factions exist, as long as the barriers are lifted so we can play with each other.

however, we may soon see guild halls/housing to support the idea, which i would much rather prefer!

No, They need to open up the races, but keep the factions closed, that’s what i’m hoping the cross guild faction for 10.1 is going to be. As soon as it’s a thing i’m defecting alliance side. Let us choose what faction we pledge our allegiance towards.

I’m all for it. Factions are dumb and only serve to split the player base against each other.

Because it’s only a matter of time before Turalyon starts up a Scarlet Crusade 2.0 in the name of the light for the Alliance.

They’re just waiting for the sunshine and rainbows schtick to wear off.

You’re not getting into Stormwind.

Why you keep calling us monsters when we are so pretty? I mean yeah we did kinda agree to genocide but stop that! The horde hasn’t been monsters since BC. Then they added Nightborne and foxes. The Horde is just “not human looking also elves” faction

players are going to be constantly changing their minds on things…for now we want to be friends, then in 10 years, people are going to feel nostalgic about horde vs alliance pride again.

who knows. glad they aren’t planning on removing faction barriers for that very reason.

lol

Okay but what I mean is that switching factions means actually defecting from one side to join the other. It’s not just visiting for a holiday or hanging out; a human going horde would be fighting for the horde. Which is, unfortunately, the same horde that up and committed genocide against the alliance only 5 years ago and is still partially led by the same people who were heading up its member races when that happened.

Even though the horde’s not actually supposed to be “the villain faction”, I feel like the perception of it, strengthened by the writing it’s gotten throughout the years, would only be encouraged by faction defection. The undead night elves from BFA sucked for this, and they have to use the excuse of feeling trapped in the horde because they don’t have the moral right to go back to the alliance. A living night elf going to the horde… yikes.

Not needed, and the devs already said the factions have their place and the races differ.

No.

Yea. Turalyon will ally with AU Yrel on a fanatical crusade. Anduin returns with Sylvanas and their kid to rally what remains of the armies of both the horde and alliance to counter Turalyon and Yrel. Illidan comes down out of the sky at the pivotal moment to eye beam Yrel’s Naaru master haha

The Horde doesn’t hold a candle to the Alliance in the “we do terrible things” department.

Cross faction play and guilds are a “break glass in case of emergency” kind of change from all appearances. If they regularly made changes based on community feedback we’d probably have playable high elves and tails on worgen by now. We can safely assume it is likely due to numbers we aren’t aware of and less due to how many people want it.

They don’t. People around here operate on the same mentality that the kid crying in the grocery store when denied candy is.

Deconstructionism is fotm in everything right now but that’s another conversation entirely.

We can just hope that Turalyon takes one for the team and revives the conflict at some point since they’ve systematically destroyed every Horde leader with a backbone.

I mean have you paid attention to what they are doing? It is clear they are done with the faction wars and the races are so convoluted now as to have no real meaning to them.

It’s fine to keep the animosity between factions alive for story purposes, but they have to keep breaking down the barrier it puts up for people trying to play with others.

It is a powder keg sitting there. I’m not sure if in the story he’s aware of what happened to everyone in Hillsbrad or other places the Forsaken have plagued and turned to swell/sustain their ranks.

The amalgam abomination of stitched family members in Hillsbrad is reason alone for him to spark a crusade.
