Why don't the devs communicate on class forums?

there seems to be a misunderstanding, many of the replies are under the impression I’m asking for a AMA from the devs. I am not.

I’m asking for a single post once in awhile with no further engagement that details the idea’s and goals the design team has for the spec. If we’re worried about “chaos” I’d argue we already have that, every set of class balancing posts already have a ton of anger in the comments. I don’t see how what I’m asking for would make that worse?

We all know what happens when they do post; they get trolled and become a point of fixation. There was a time long ago where blue posts were more prevalent, at least Blizzard CMs, but also some class designers. That was back with Vanilla and TBC.

Ostensibly, there is a hiearchy of community reps now, and that’s the answer of how feedback gets taken.

But the question people should be asking, is “Are developers permitted or encouraged to post?” Could WoW developers post if they wanted to? Could they post if they had spare time? Do they read the forums?

Twitter seems to be preferred loosely because they don’t have to take blunt, confrontational questions all day long. Instead, talk about future plans, lore, good feelings.

Those are the questions that interest me. To my own mind, I know why there is no value to posting here (hint: it’s the community), but I’d love to see if there is a formal directive or set of rules that dictate the policy beyond the CM hierarchy which was clearly put in place.
