Why doesn't the game give us tools to succeed? *DPS meters for starters*

How do I know if I am improving? Doing my rotation correctly? I refuse to install some 3rd party addon. I don’t care if you only show me my personal DPS, even just for a target dummy. BUT PvP for example shows the DPS/Healing/Flags etc ALL sorts of useful information at the end of a match, so why can’t raids have an option to review similar info after a fight?

because metagaming analysis tools go against the concept of roleplaying. Seeing the game through your character’s eyes, “DPS” is not a real thing. it’s literally a derivative of damage with respect to time.

When you can be vote kicked for your DPS, it certainly is a thing that matters!

how do the people voting you manage their dps? why can’t you do what they’re doing? They don’t have native DPS meters either. They made it work somehow.

Many people dont even use meters correctly, they see bigger numbers and chase it. They dont look at other data like interrupts, dispels, damage taken and what sources, or what others are doing.

Interrupts? is taht slang for “Pump” ?

If you press buttons, you do DPS. Most of the time in most content, that gets you by plenty.

I’ll vote kick people who aren’t pushing buttons or are obviously just tapping one skill on CD.

No, they have 3rd party addons for a DPS meter that I refuse to install because any tool for the same should be built into the game

Game has taken many previous things that were addon only and added it to the base game. Quest helper, DBM etc all things that I never installed but eventually game got easier over time

I mean… seeing your dps isn’t the problem. your dps is the problem.

if you do good dps, you don’t need a tool to display it.

Which is why if the game had 1 built in, it could give you added information like # of dispells/interrupts a player did etc similar to a PvP report on how people do in BGS with capping flags and suchs

Why? It solves your problem. Your principle doesn’t accomplish anything.

Blizzard might well have shipped meters a long time ago if they needed to. Why spend dev time on this when there are already robust and sufficient third party options?

But if I change talents etc I don’t know if I am doing better or worse etc.

Too complicated, I am not that techy and I don’t trust that I wont get a virus. Been playing since 2009, never used an addon

Stick to CurseForge - Mods & Addons Leading Community and you’ll be fine.

unless… you ask a friend who has mastered curseforge “download” button to tell you how you’re doing.

he can even livestream for free on a platform like Twitch and you can see how you’re doing in real time through his screen.

build a strong social bond that will last for decades in the process.

or alternatively you can ask him to help you download Recount.

They’re not going to take this advice because I have a feeling their personality schtick is being stubborn and digging their heels in.

Yep because back in Firelands I downloaded that to get an addon and next day my email was warning me about malicious attempts. I immediately uninstalled without ever getting an addon and never looked back

See what I mean? :dracthyr_tea:

Instead of the addon I learned what a mouse over macro was and healed that way (guild wanted me to get healbot or something)

Point is 99.9% of the game is playable without addons, the DPS meter is the only problem I have

i’d think the dbm and the weakauras are bigger problems…

Hundreds of thousands of people use Curseforge every year.
