Like I said DBM is built into the game, and I raid just fine without it. I have cutting edge achieves from MoP and also every AOTC since AOTC got added.
i have every AOTC too. that doesnt make me a good player.
Depends. If you earn it and get it early in the season it does. Not buy a carry
The 3rd party addons are the tools the game gives you.
I was like this too. Refused to use addons because “reasons”
Yes, you can play the entire game without add-ons. But if you want to play at higher levels of competence, you will NEED it. You do a high M+ dungeon without DBM or GTFO and you will end up dragging the rest of the group down. That’s just how it is. Yes, I can shoot 200m with Iron Sights on my Rifle. But a Scope will damn well help.
As for getting them build into the game. No, Blizzard will only very very grudgingly make certain add-ons standard. That’s been their policy forever. The UI editor? Something like that is standard on nearly every other MMO I’ve played for DECADES. But WoW has only had it for the last few years. Why? Because there were dozens of addons that did it before.
If you want a DPS meter, Details does the job. Find out how to add it into your game from a legitimate site. There are plenty. IF that is the only ADDON you need, this will not be difficult or leave you vulnerable to any bugs.
The fact is that the game is designed around having certain tools without providing them. I don’t think any game should work that way, even if it’s very easy to download curseforge.
The base game should come with every tool we need to the point where having addons are a marginal advantage. And yes that is worth the dev’s time.
I wouldn’t mind if we didn’t have to do this either but the game is what it is. Do what the rest of us do and install the addons, THEN complain.
If you want to have your personal principle, that’s fine…but you trying to force them to force me to have all the addons you think would be useful put as default in the interface means you are harming me by making me have a bunch of addon features I don’t want. I don’t want to have a 97 page interface menu where I have to keep unchecking or disabling all the addon features you want to be default.
The more ethical option is for them to make a reasonable and simplified default user interface and leave open the possibility of installing addons if I want more analysis tools, as they call it.
I personally use many fewer addons than most high end raiders, but I do use three or four; and that’s fine with me. I prefer Details! more than Recount…but that’s me.
If you were truly wanting to follow your own principle, forcing yourself to never use addons but figure out your dps; then it would be your responsibility to do some math in a practical fashion. You’d go out and find a mob with 9 million HP and set the in game stopwatch (accessed by typing /sw in default interface btw) to count how long it took you to dps it to death. Then change your rotation or talents or whatever, and start again… then compare. Done.
So you were vote kicked for low DPS, and this is about Blizzard incorporating an option outside of add-ons?
