I can’t understand why Blizz cares so little about PvP. And I can’t understand a developer who says “we value your feedback”, and then when patch notes come out we get a bunch of changes that no PvP player asked for, and classes that are broken get no tuning. It’s like Blizzard is saying “oh this class is broken and dominating the 3’s ladder, well here’s solo shuffle, here’s plunderstorm, here’s BG Blitz, this will keep them distracted”. 3’s has been dying for awhile, and now it’s basically dead. The only people left are Multi R1, Multi Glad, tournament players. When multi glad players are stuck ar 2.1-2.2 what hope is there for a newer player to ever achieve that goal?
MMR is backloaded and somewhat population/interest driven.
So here’s the thing. For the most part the game is completely fine. Most specs are viable, sure some specs are better than others. But that’s always going to be the case. The general structure for a season tends to be. Season starts and lots of things are over the top/ terrible. Do minor tuning. Then later in the season or after tournaments after seeing the strength of everything with full gear more tuning. Then for the most part that’s it. They get the season where things are relatively balanced and leave it at that.
If you don’t like the current meta, quit till next season. It’ll probably be at least a little bit different. Or just be like everyone else and fotm reroll.
If I can’t play double dps 2s to 2100 I’m not playing anything other than random bgs.
Does that mean pvp is bad? Not really…just means it’s not what I’m looking for.
I disagree. Is it playable, sure. Is it fine, no. There’s 3-4 classes that have been super OP for months! Not just slightly over tuned, they’re absolute monstrosities. I know I’m not the only person in the community that feels this way. But instead of tuning the classes that are completely OP, we get nerfs to classes that are just average to begin with. I love 3’s, I despise shuffle because it basically killed the 3’s ladder. But seems most of the tuning is geared towards solo queues, or PvP.
Eh I wouldn’t say op. S tier yeah, but other specs are close enough that they aren’t broken. “except maybe outlaw, but only by r1 rogues, so it doesn’t matter to most people” That’s just how the game will always be, there will always be a few S tier specs. If it isn’t the current ones it’d be different ones.
It’s not class balance it’s the game. It’s bad. The M+ playstyle, the modes, it’s not going to get better. gg go next.
The real answer for why PvP has been so deprioritized for a long time is pretty simple: Ion’s purely a PvEer, and WoW’s focus shifted accordingly when he took the reins from GC.
cause only 10 people play it and its toxic
What do you think is broken or isn’t viable?
PvP was comparably popular to PvE according to GC, when he was in charge.
That its participation took a nosedive in the years afterward says everything. (Didn’t help we had multiple expacs of borrowed power chores and legendaries that everyone hated.)
I think it still is. Last I heard was in slands (so prior to shuffle, which has likely BOOSTED participation) was that overall unrated normal bgs were the most popular form of content in the game and arena was pretty equivalent with heroic+ raiding.
that was 20+ years ago…
that was 20+ years ago
Erm, not quite. lmao
I think it still is.
I don’t think queue times bear this speculation out. BG queues on Cata are <30 seconds, while BG queues on retail are several minutes even for Horde (and multiple times that for Alliance).
People are just tired of 3s. There’s a ton of boosting, so unless you play with those top players GL lol. LFG is outdated, times have changed for gamers to play solo. There’s literally a million reasons all you have to do is think about it.
Admitting I do not and will not PVP, but the numbers I see put it at less than 15% of total players that do PVP. Maybe start there?
Honestly, I doubt any real rank 1’s/ multi glad’s are struggling at 2100-2200 right now. And if they are, they likely got their glad titles during very inflated seasons, their class was super OP, their titles are very old, or they’re playing an alt.
blizzard cares more about the people that live alone with 12 thousand cats and have no social life outside cute videos on youtube and themes revolving around current hit movies to pitch as expansions to care about pvp. sorry maybe the next big hit panda movie could possibly bring back pvp but not anytime soon
Ya, when the developers dont seem to engage in pvp content in any meaningful way, you get this.
This wont get better either. As the participation shrinks, so will the attention. Maybe a couple balance changes between seasons, in the future
They care more about just chatti- I mean hardcore classic.
