Horde had a larger playerbase. More geared players join bgs. The low geared players merc it up. It’s not rocket science.
years of the Alliance player base leaving to go play Horde pretty much sums it up.
I can tell you exactly why in AV… alliance rushed RH and stands there while we back cap… literally EVERY AV I’ve ever played there like 10 to 15 alliance sitting at RH area waiting while we have 2groups back cap then wipe them out of RH. I have no idea why they’re like this…
I got mass reported and kicked out of an AV yesterday on Horde for taking snowfall with Horde up on reinforcement by 250. ![]()
Hey I am trying to get my Master of AV achievement . ![]()
there cant be 2 winners in a competition so of course every epic bg will have a loser and a winner or a 1st place and a 2nd place
It’s hard to carry epics, and geared alliance players probably gave up on them at this point.
Alliance epics are pretty much LFR for farming honor right now, whereas horde people join for daily conquest on their geared characters. There is probably stable 10-15 average item level difference there. People say strategy, but if you look at scoreboard, most of the time horde wins on killing blows, and killing is that wins the game ultimately.
i lose a bunch on Horde actually in epic. the queues are just almost 20 minutes so it doesn’t have the same feel as Alliance does to have an instant queue and loss. that’s all it is
plus Horde only get roughly 350 honor for a win. not so great
Alliance seem to be more dominant in EBGs late at night/early in the morning.
Ah yes, a fellow and brother Snowfall capper. I have a dozens of screenshots of the chatlogs after I cap Snowfall. It’s so glorious.

I was kicked for no reason . Horde had Pike GY and was stuck on the bridge because we had only 1 healer versus 4 for alliance. It was a stalemate and alliance were going to lose on resources . Irrespective of who controlled Snowfall , Ally were always going to rezz at the base based on where they were stuck on the later half of the bridge .
I hope that more Alliance players switch to Horde and jack up the queue time and hurt the Horde win rate. Hopefully that will start enticing Horde players to start mercing or even switch to the Alliance and make things more balanced.
The queue time has been so bad recently (18-19 minutes “average” queue time for EBG) as Horde that I’m actually less inclined to play on my Horde toon. Seems better to have a guaranteed loss as an Alliance with 50% increased honor earnings from enlistment bonus than to go through 25+ minutes just to get into an EBG and potentially lose.
At least the Honor earned per hour as an Alliance is higher than Horde, even if you lose all the time.
53 % win in AV , 64% win in IoC, 47% win in WG , Ashran is lowest at 20% but only have played 10 times and the map favored the Horde until recently, i do not see this mass Alliance loss in epics.
It’s this. Undergeared horde go merc mode for faster honor, which essentially doubles the number of undergeared players on alliance.
Alliance don’t really have common sense. They don’t adapt to strats well at all, and are quick to blame specific players on the team instead of fix glaring issues.
One such example of this is how the Alliance would rather continue forcing glaives/demos when 80% of the Horde team is on defense, and Hangar is practically undefended. Simply abandoning the strat and zerging Hangar would completely halt the Horde’s offensive pressure, AND force the Horde to bring the glaives/demos they would get into a poorly-defended position (on the east near quarry, no islet to defend there), because they would be forced to change to a new gate and abandon their current gate damage, which they obviously won’t do.
Instead, I watched the Alliance sit there and brawl with no vehicles up.
You would think that’d be the end of it? Nope. Next game, people DID go Hangar. But what did they do after capping Hangar? It SURE AS HELL wasn’t defend and kill glaives/demos. I watched THIRTY PEOPLE parachute into the Horde base and run bombs. THIRTY. We lost that game in an actual record time.
So yeah. Alliance lack common sense. They lack morale, too. I’ve seen entire teams cry about the first teamfight being lost in Ashran, only to take control and lead them to an easy win because they thought Ashran is like Wintergrasp and the first teamfight decides the entire game (hint, it doesn’t).
Gear can be an issue, yes. In fact, a lot of the time, it’s why the Alliance lose fights. But the biggest contributor to the reason why Alliance are actual garbage in epics is the overall competency of the team, and the fact they’ve been so hammered into a negativity-filled mindset that they refuse to listen to reasoning, and think every single game is an inevitable loss.
It’s gotten so bad that I’m willing to sit 30 minute queues to gear my 160-ilvl fox hunter instead of merc, because I simply don’t want to put up with the QQ and skill gaps.
Blizz changed AV because of Horde tears. Fact.
I hate epic bgs but I’ll queue for some ashran for that Phat honor on a fresh toon.
Then you would think alliance would majority win classic AV… they don’t, unless they sync multiple pre mades .
The reality is: There’s more rated players on Horde than Alliance by virtue of population, so there’s more geared people on Horde and 1 geared person is worth 3-4 under-geared. Regardless of strategy, the Horde usually wins the initial team fight.
Both factions give up when the initial team fight is lost and then they start bickering or afking, it isn’t an Alliance-only thing. The fact that Alliance also has a lot of under-geared Horde mercs because they want faster queues compounds the issue further.
Yeah we’re really enjoying many of the undergeared MERCS like the ilvl 155 I had in WG.
How long you played the game?
Alliance used to win AV all the time. Horde spat out the dummy and Blizz who are Horde biased (Blizzcon proved that) changed something in there. I’ve not played as Alliance in AV for about 2 years, just a waste of time.
Horde dominated the regular bgs. Now it’s domination everywhere, no wonder the game is going to the dogs from a PVP perspective.
