Why does Ret do dam as if it was 9.1?

I have 27% verse and got one shot by a ret. 9.1k white swing, 13.5k vengeance, 12k verdict all in one motion. I beat maybe 1/10 rets I que into, how do you deal with the one taps? I swear their partners don’t even need to do anything, they just randomly one shot our healer or me, you can’t even react.

Track the reckoning charges/procs, kite on vengeance.

Usually do, but this game only lasted maybe 20 seconds. War/Ret, they were on my partner, then the warrior chased him, then the ret just tabbed, hit templars verdict and killed me. It’s wild,

Configure your DBM to issue a “run away little girl” warning when shield of vengeance happens and, well, do that.

Game is on clown mode though, so many random 1 shots from so many specs.

I don’t play DH, but i imagine something like this…

Don’t see wings? Do damage.

See wings? Use paralyze, if paladin bubbles, jump in air/rush away until wings down, then punish for using wings offensively.
If paladin trinkets, use chaos nova, then fel rush.

Then the ret mustve popped wings, and you/your partner neglected to use CC or defensives for them. You deserved to lose. If they trinket offensively, you spend more cds to survive, cause after their go is over, they have nothing to stop you from running them down without punishment

While you aren’t wrong, this shouldn’t be necessary. No class should crit 15-25k, especially if it isn’t a hard cast / wind up like chaosbolt

This was just one example. Our healers been crit for a 24k TV before and almost got one shot, we ended up winning that game because it was Scooby Doo and the rogue was bad, but it’s still insane how free glad is on a ret rn.

Ret was the kill target. He was stunned, trinketed and my partner was running from them. I just got insta gibbed.

There is wind up though, every crying about rets hitting hard dont say anyting about the 2-4 seconds before getting nuked, where the ret pops seraphim, a trinket if they run it, pop wings. Ret 100% has wind up. Literally if a ret has seraphim up and has high reckoning stack/ a proc, or has wings available, everyone and their mother knows hes about to burst.

Wings should not be so powerful that you can die in one second. No class should be able to do that.

Well the R1 players that are able to be objective about their own classes understand ret damage is silly, critting people for 25,000+ TV’s

Ret damage is absurd and insanely frontloaded watch Mes play his Ret, its satire.

Last nite I saw vanguards kill Trill in 1.3s and everyone on both teams went yea Ret def is nerfed and useless.

Its not just Divine Toll the whole not critting under 15k on your holy slaps is just bizarre

Exactly, the pros realize that it’s busted, but people defend it in forums because they want their class to remain strong lol

Ill agree with you guys once every game of the AWC has a ret in it unlike fire/arms must be something those teams dont know since the forums think ret is the worst thing since taxes.

The problem is that ret can do that kind of outrageous damage through defensives. If you can get away, they can still quadruple judge you.

Also, calling it “crying” just weakens your argument. It shows you have an obvious bias and don’t care to have a discussion. There is nothing wrong with pointing out outliers within the game.

Ret I think is a complete outlier tho because it high rolls too frequently.

Ele tho you literally just dispel flame shock or avoid the 8s that echoing shock is up to break them

You cant really stop rets, they gain momentum whenever you do which I think is an awesome niche and plays into their lore really well.

But the numbers are just stupid out of ret because they have too many modifiers that are “your next holy ability does 25% increased damage on the target”
