I am just curious why is the community so sharply divded over this addon what is causing people to get so up in arms.. ?
I am refering to the people who defend the Addon and the ones who attack it ?
Why is this causing issues ?
Just curious becuse I only do dungeons from dungeons finder and mythic zero for quest chains to level up my alt.

bads will be bads and if there is a way to cleave them from the selection pool most users will take the path of lease resistance. It was gearscore in wrath & ilvl for a while now, now its Io.

Yeah pretty much this, its not the most accurate tool used by players to exclude people from joining based on what youre actually doing in regards to dungeons, not even raiding from what I understand.
The funniest thing is the people defending it are also the ones saying not to cater to casuals. So it become a vicious cycle. Cater to the casuals because they keep being excluded. If people took the time to teach others, then it wouldnt be needed at all.

Because snowflakes get their feelings hurt when they're told they're not as skilled or experienced as someone else.

Well if we're being literal.
Dividing us is explicitly what the design of it is supposed to do.

It's not just an addon, but an entire website that tracks players' raiding and mythic+ experience.
Some players hate it because they perceive that it's "unfair" or "elitist," but their opinions are generally unfounded. The problems they pose with the site speak to their unfamiliarity with it (generally), which tells me they haven't put in the effort to figure out how it works, why the mythic+ community uses it, etc.
Thing is, if you want a solid mythic+ score, you have to start from the ground up, run keys on all maps, then run harder keys on those maps, and then time those keys. There's not a lot of instant gratification from Raider.io, and I think that's why the most casual players get so riled up about it.

I like Raider.io because it fosters trust in the M+ community. I'm more likely to enjoy a high-key run with someone who has proof of completing similar runs consistently, than someone who paid for a run or was carried once.
It helps.

This game requires people to play with to get anything done. Tools like raider io are useful, but it's not hard to see why it would cause tension in the community, especially if you have a hard time finding a group of people to play with.
I've cleared +9's in time, but it can still take an hour or two to find a +9 or 10's that are willing to take me. I'm a 368 item level priest and play alliance side. But my io score is only 490 because I haven't bothered to do every single dungeon on a higher key. Some of them simply aren't worth the attempts with pug.
Imagine now you're not one of the mythic+ meta dps classes, it gets even harder to find groups. Nobody wants to spend most of their time just trying to find a group. +10's are in short supply on the alliance side. Plenty of good players capable of doing them, but not enough keys with good tanks/healers who are willing to take off meta classes. Even a good io score won't get you into groups 10 and over. So yeah, people are going to be frustrated by it.
The fact is there is a shortage of groups in the game with quality players who are willing to mentor others and have the patients to see not so good players improve. People want to learn by playing the game, they don't want to learn by reading guides, and watching other people play.

I think this pretty much sums it up. That and some ppl want to time keys to get more loot instead of those just looking to complete.

How many hours per day do you teach bads how to do m+? 0? Yeah, me too.
You never know how anyone will perform, but I see nothing wrong with people using the data that Blizz makes available. I really dislike people feeling like they shouldn't be excluded from some groups because they don't have the experience the person wants. It's really better that way.
Start at the bottom, and work up. Or/and, play with guildies/friends.

"most people" where did you get your data from?
"I'm pro, your poo" ...uninstall my game baddie.
I’m casual. I don’t do high level content. I believe if there isn’t IO then there will be something else. Players will always seek a way to thin out the herd. Using iLvL was a bad technique.

Lol, no it won't.
It's a tool like any other tool, people want to go from a zero key to hopping right into people's 10's and no one wants that.
Build your score and go from there. You can't expect to just jump from a 0 to a 10 and come throw a hissy fit when you aren't accepted because of your score. Various things come into play here whether you want to believe it or not. Classes and abilities, cc's, etc and so on, along with the 100 players signing up, yet it's io's fault. Most smart people putting groups together use these factors as well. Get better, work at it. Don't blame a tool for your failures at getting good.
No one wants to work for anything anymore and it should be handed out like candy with no effort involved.
Sorry I would rather have someone with a little more experience under their belt in my 10 siege vs someone that only did a 2 and ya know what, it's my key not yours and I should have a say in who comes. If I want to use a tool to get my group together, WHY DO YOU CARE?
That's what ya gotta ask yourself. I did an 11 last week, NOT YOU, ME, I opened my chest and got a 10 this week. I worked my ars off for that 10 and it's going to give me max loot next week, MY KEY, why does it bug you that I use a tool to get my group together? Why can't you do the same with your very own key? Are you entitled to MY key? I'm genuinely curious.
Edited to add: You can go ahead and call me what you want "elitist" whatever it is you are using today. I run tons of keys with people that have no scores, low scores, etc but at some point it's impossible to carry people and you need people that know what they are doing. That's where the TOOL comes in handy. If it's anything below a 7 I don't bother looking.
....and one other thing cause this is reality. Most people that value their time found amazing groups in Legion and don't pug their keys, so this is really a problem between the "casuals". Not the "elitist" or "no lifers" because we are all in our own groups and really don't have to pug much. Or does this rule not apply here because it's not working out in your favor? Isn't it "we pay the same as you and we can do what we want while we play the game we pay the same for"? So you are all literally really complaining about each other. Make a discord/or WoW group and hook it up.

I think the raider.io has a lot of potential to make experiencing raiding better.10/30/2018 04:01 PMPosted by AnorimBecause snowflakes get their feelings hurt when they're told they're not as skilled or experienced as someone else.
But, I do understand the fear, since gearscore proved that raiders will take the path of least resistance just like casuals and increasingly ratchet up their expectations for super fast runs instead of cultivating a community of people that can run it and experience the content.
The biggest problem is there is almost never a median for this stuff, its always the extremes of too casual with no reason to play, or, "!@#$ you you don't have x number of kills" in this thing elitism.
