Why Does "Normal" Raid Difficulty Exist?

I think the 4 different tiers of raid gear creates an issue where we have too much health bloat every expansion they’ve done this.

Starting in MoP, where they first did flex and heroic and whatnot. Going into wod and other expansions, we’ve had multiple hundreds of thousands in health. And then in legion Millions upon millions of health.

SL squishing us back to 60 better not have some kind of uncanny power growth where we have 4x the health at the end of the expansion where we do at the start.

Who really cares, it’s just numbers.

What do you mean? Isn’t there going to be an average level of health no matter how the raid tiers go?

It’s not just numbers though. It affects other parts of the game like First Aid for example. At the start of BFA our bandages healed for a good % of our health.

Now they heal for jack crap because they haven’t got an update.

There’s lots of things in the game that don’t scale properly because they’re tuned to a set content, and aren’t % based. So the new content makes things irrelevant because of excessive stat bloat.

Except they are, who really cares about bandages from a dead profession? We get new health pots every expansion.

Getting bigger numbers is fun, that’s why they do it.

Yes. But starting in the more recent expansions the gaps jump through the roof, I don’t know why we’ve been seeing such crazy high stamina gains, and I want to know why.

Ex: Starting in wotlk on my mage i had 18k health or something really low. At the end of wotlk I had 26k health.

Starting in BFA on my mage i had 140k health or something. my mage now has 500k health. Thats a bit of a leap. Why so much health?

Me, obviously. And anyone who needs to live in a pinch mid-combat where potions are on cooldown / unavailable.

There’s a reason they killed first aid, no one was using it. It’s been dead since at least cata.

Eh, it doesn’t really matter imo. I fight 140k health people early on, and then 400-500k people later. Makes no difference to me, as the damage will be upped to compensate as well.

Nobody was using it because they kept scaling health through the roof so high that bandages went from being reliable to moot.

Thanks for helping my point.

No one was using it because ever class has a heal that heals more than bandages ever did.

First aid was annoying even before it was useless, barely anyone outside of pvpers actually liked it.

They should just scrap the stupid thing to remove that awkward ilvl stuff going on

Don’t need 4 raid tiers

We managed with 1

We managed with 2

3 was fine

4 is dumb

We don’t need normal to be an entry level to raids, heroic raids now are about as difficult maybe even easier than what we had at the time

Ty for listening

The more people that can raid the easier raiding is to sell to the bean counters.

I like having the raiding I enjoy, so they can do whatever it takes to please the money holders.

I don’t like that design because it hasn’t been working for the past for as long as they’ve been doing it

What? It’s been working just fine.

And you overestimate the avg players ability. Heroic is “easy” to a mythic raider and insurmountable to a normal raider.

M+ “drops” Azerite Gear via Titan Residuum, and it totally depends on the spec if you actually want Raid traits. My main didn’t this patch.

Trinkets, again, depends on spec. I’d agree that most if not all specs probably have at least 1 trinket they want from raid, but plenty won’t want 2.

Or basically none at all.

Because it makes money for blizzard. If you think that people who do normal raiding should be pushed out of the game, that’s a lot of paying customers who ask very little of the game but pay most of the development costs.

I wouldn’t bring anyone at 410 into normal.

That’s not even heroic dungeon geared. It’d be a carry.

Because other people exist.
