Why Does "Normal" Raid Difficulty Exist?

For Heroic guilds Normal is 3 things:

1. A great way to cover gaps in gear from the previous raid tier
2. A great way to get an understanding of the current tier
3. A great way to see if a New class or player is a good fit for your team

So for whom is Normal raid difficulty designed?

It’s designed for you apparently. If Normal is such a waste why did you do the normal difficulty of every raid in bfa?

Is there any good reason for this to still be around? It drops lower ilvl gear than the previous tier of Mythic/M+ and is so undertuned that I really have no idea what purpose it serves. Right now, it seems like Normal is far too easy (and the rewards are pointless when spammable M+ content drops higher ilvl gear) and not sufficiently different in terms of difficulty from Heroic to really make any sense.

What all this says is, you’ve given no consideration to brand new players

Normal is a great way to gear up for players/alts who are just getting into a patch. I don’t think that they should remove it. Would they remove M+5s just because most people are doing M+15s now?

Normal is missing mechanics and has what few mechanics it keeps in neutered

Unless they make normal version first then it isn’t missing anything. Heroic and Mythic get mechanics added to them.

Normal is just Flex, heroic is actually normal and mythic is actually just heroic.

Back at the end of MoP they just changed all the raid names.

LFR: Story Mode with nerfed or less mechanics

Normal: All bosses have everything except 1 or 2 mechanics

Heroic: All bosses are more powerful and have 1 or 2 additional mechanics

Mythic: Bosses are tuned for hardest difficulty and have 1 or 2 additional mechanics to complete the difficulty curve

There is no need to remove Normal. Don’t play Normal if you think your time is wasted

Personally I preferred when Normal was just Heroic with lower tuning, rather than having Heroic and higher include extra mechanics. Makes it way harder to use Normal as the training regime for heroic if there are things that just won’t appear on Normal at all.

Nope, I think It needs to be removed. It’s not a stepping stone in terms of difficulty, the fights are almost the exact same as heroic mechanically, tbh I couldent tell you the heroic mechanic for half the fights in Ny. Normal or heroic, one serves no purpose and needs to go.

but it also drops gear that is 20 ilvls behind what spammable M+ content drops and 30 ilvls behind the weekly M+ cache.

Maybe some people don’t enjoy mythic plus. I abhor it.

Personally I think we need to remove Mythic raiding and go back to how things were in MoP.
