Why does no one care about Ninja Looting anymore?

One of my guildies hosted a 10M EoE today and the tank that came in was a pug and I guess my friend had forgot to put on ML.

The items went for roll at the end and Black Ice dropped, and everyone passed as they were all on Discord and the tank warrior rolled need on it and won the roll.

They asked him to give the weapon as it was to be rolled for as other actual DPS melee were there and they were even nice enough to let the tank roll on it even after he ninja looted it but the tank simply just DC’d and never came back.

My guildie goes into the trade chat/LFG chat to expose the guy and his name for ninja looting and he ends up getting a Behavior Warning instead because due to people reporting him in chat which makes no sense as he was trying to do was warn of a ninja looter.

Back in 2019/2020 Classic, when server communities mattered people would blacklist ninja looter and call them out and it actually meant something and nowadays people will straight up just report you for trying to call it out and that guy will probably go on to ninja loot more raids after creating more victims in the process.

When did we as a Classic community stop caring about ninja looting? Is this just allowed behavior now?

Ehhh, a non issue really. Should’ve had ML on. He can also just buy a name change, so what really can you do to him? Haha

This is what I was afraid of though, there used to be consequences for actions like this but now the community has become too relaxed and seems to not care. It just encourages people to ninja loot and be more toxic.

I think you should have made better choices then?

Like what man? I wasn’t in the raid myself, it was clear he made a mistake not ML’ing but he even offered the tank a roll on it if he traded it back. That’s more than generous imo.

No, even back in Vanilla, if the raid leader didn’t put on Master Looter, then the GM would just say, “Should have had Master Looter on.”

Transfers and the fact Blizzard has literally 5-10 people working on Classic, meaning they have to leave moderation almost entirely to automation which is easily abusable, especially since blizzard is the type of company to quicker to ban than not ban, they don’t care.

What server did this happen on? We can check your story.

The wrong doing was on raid lead.

You don’t go into a PUG and NOT master loot.

There was no name change or server transfers in early vanilla, even early classic it was rare that you’d see people move whole servers. They were forced to do it after getting exposed, this is when server identity meant something.

This doesn’t matter. They can make another account and you won’t know it.

That doesn’t matter, though. It’s on the raid leader to ensure it is on Master Looter (or their preferred loot method) It wasn’t on Master Looter, and the Warrior rolled on the item. It is the fault of the raid leader, 100%.

That doesn’t constitute Ninja-Looting.

Yeah this is 100% the problem right now.

But they’d lose the item then, what benefit does that give them?

True but they were all on Discord, the tank was also pretty talkative and seemed like a chill dude and they even offered him to roll on it which he wouldn’t have gotten to had ML been on since he’s a tank and not a DPS spec as was said on the ad.

He knew the right thing to do and did the wrong thing.

It doesn’t matter. Again, it’s the Raid Lead’s fault, not the Warrior.

This thread is invalid - this isn’t ninja-looting.

Master loot or no loot

See people like you are the reason why people ninja loot in this game, this would never have existed in 2019/2020 Classic.
