Do you use a roleplaying addon.
I have TRP3, but I have it disabled at the moment in game, the tooltip makes it difficult to see people’s ilvls so I disable it when I’m not in an RP environment.
The RP addon gives a very different account action message. When you get an account penalty via the addon reports it comes up as “Disruptive Gameplay”.
I was just thinking he could be advertising thru the addon. Was my thinking.
No, I only advertise through in-game channels. In my little bio thing of TRP3, I do have a “ask me about my guild” quip, but that’s all it is.
If you have been penalized, it means you have violated the In-Game Code of Conduct. May not be the guild advertisement itself, but the location and frequency of the advertisement as well. Because if you adversities your guild in the wrong channels or frequently spam it within any channel without pausing, that all can come down to spam, which yes, a player can report for spam.
That’s why I think there needs to be some form of clearly defined “rules” that pertain to advertisements and recruitment. As you can see in the other thread posted here, I was told what was acceptable for in-game recruitment, and I have followed that. But today, I am still facing the same penalty, so apparently there is no one-size-fits-all solution, other than “stop recruiting.”
Well, no, because the rules are actually pretty clear enough, and some areas are made on grey areas on purpose for a reason.
If you wish to made that suggestion though, you’ll need to submit that feedback in an appropriate location, such as via In-Game suggestions, somewhere where the development would be able to read.
Probably has to do with the advertising in Trade Channel.
Also, if you send a message in General and in Trade, then that can be seen as being spam.
See, that’s the thing, lots of speculation, maybes, and what it possibly might have been. The only surefire way that I know of not to have it happen is to stop doing it entirely, which is what I am going to do.
That’s right because we are players like you. Only Blizzard knows and they will never reveal exact details on purpose.
That’d be because Blizzard there isn’t a set time frame or amount that’d be called spam after that point - that’s not going to change as folks will abuse the fact.
Not at all. All that does is get people trying to push the limits as far as they can, but saying “uh uh, not against your rules”. Much like a sibling putting their hand in your face and saying “not touching, can’t get mad”.
There’s a hard limit for spam. Two messages in a rolling 30 seconds. But that’s not the spam rule. Posting every 31 seconds can still be considered spam (not saying this is you, just an example).
That’s correct. Because in the end, spam is in the eye of your realmmates and Blizzard takes that into account. A lower pop realm, spam might be every few minutes because the chat stays on everyone screen longer. A higher pop realm might allow it to be faster (since everyone spams, and it’s a massive scrolling mess, but that’s neither here nor there to your issue), because there are more messages.
Now you’re getting it. In the end, you’re annoying your realmmates. Whether or not you agree, whether or not it’s against the rules, you’re still getting reported by your realmmates. What’s it going to take for you to realize that they don’t want to see your messages, even if you feel you are justified in sending them?
Guild recruitments are not like trading goods or linking professions (also annoying). Most people are in guilds, and they don’t wish to see more guild spam. People who are not in guilds are often not in guilds for reasons, and they don’t wish to see more guild spam. And above all, most people don’t want to see the same messages posted over and over again.
The Guild Finder is in place for this exact reason. So guilds don’t have to spam messages to a population who are already in a guild, and your recruitment can be seen by anyone who is actively searching for a guild.
If you must post in a chat channel, post it once. Posting it again within 30 seconds is going to hit the same people who already didn’t respond to you the first time. Post it once and move on. You’re not going to get quality people by annoying everyone.
For chat infractions? They give those details all the time. The email player got used to have it. These days the forum blues will fill folks in and tell them exactly which channel they used what in. They don’t use the bad language if it was that, but they at least make it clear what it was and which channels.
Yes, aware. Been here awhile
I’m referring to things like thresholds and timings surrounding what they’d consider spam when determining it during their report investigation.
Oh, that. Yeah they don’t share that and for spam it is realm dependent anyway.
This is interesting, I didn’t think to take the realm itself into account. Either way, I won’t be doing it anymore (I won’t even see the channels anymore), but it’s one of those tidbits of knowledge I will tuck away for others in my guild should they ever be curious about it.
Be careful, just because you hide a channel does it mean that you cant send messages to it. For that, you have to completely leave the channel.
Good thing to note, thank you, I will be sure to properly leave rather than hide.
