Because sometimes we don’t get lucky with RNG in WQs and we need the LFR gear to at least make us competitive enough to do Normals…
It’s hard out there for a PUG raider, especially if you’re a DPS PUG raider.
Except that isn’t true.
Even with gear some people don’t do it anyway, a lot of people just queue up to be morons and grief.
I know I’ve asked this question before - and no one ever answers - but why is it important to you that only you get things? Why do you care what people in LFR do or do not get? How is that impacting you such that you needed to make a forum post about it.
And no, I don’t do LFR. I’m just tired of the, “only the ‘pro’ players deserve gear progression,” attitude.

LFR drops gear because its a small token of appreciation for hanging in there during the painful experience

As well it should be. I am so glad they made so many paths for gearing. Instead of the liner path from nilla, we can play the whole game and get rewards.

There aren’t enough normal/heroic/mythic raiders paying sub fees each month to offset the amount of manpower/resources needed to design the raids. Pretty much all I can think of.
That’s the usual line. Of course that ignores the height of WoW when few raided on any real level and the game was never more popular…

You do the work, i lost the link when i redone my windows installation, i had it on my desktop as a .txt doc.
The reason subs dropped in Cata so much was that players didn’t care for the move to ‘let’s make dungeons and raids hard again’, mentality. Failed miserably. Blizzard has been chasing numbers ever since.

Why shouldn’t it?
Why does normal and heroic drop gear? You can get better gear from incursions and warfronts.
Because they decided to dumb everything down and tried to spike the difficulty. Just like right now they can’t possibly change their formula to make anything difficult because it will make people that stayed for easy content leave. Funny enough when the game was kinda difficult which in my opinion what Wow was meant to be at max cap the only complaining I remember seeing was it was too hard for some people. Instead adapting to the game people cried for nerfs. There’s no prestige anymore for downing heroic or mythic raids the gear was the prestige. Now in the direction WoW is going is on the path of least resistance and I don’t see it lasting as long as their old furmula.

I think lfr does need some gear the question is always what gear it should have. I am a strong supporter of it being tied with heroic dungeons. Both are easy content designed for new players.
