Why does everyone want to dps?

But in both instances that pet damage requires input from the player to actually be good.

Just so we are clear “most of the work” implies holding the aggro and taking the brunt of the damage. Voidwalkers and Turtles in particular can take a HUGE beating while their master is AFK. Even without damaging the mob in the process, they are carrying the fight til the user unloads on the mob.

I play games for fun. Not to be stressed.

This is true for one spec in the entire game and only in solo content / delves. Pets are also very squishy, comparatively, so it’s a lot of management to keep them alive in delves.

Turtles and Voidwalkers are not the monoliths of resilience they once were.

None of this applies in group content.

Feels like at times less BS from other players to deal with. For awhile during bfa all I did was play resto druid in the epic bg.

2 dps + myself in a fight. Overwhelmed and unless others arrived it was only a matter of time before we died. 1 dps thanked me for keeping them going as long as possible. The other dps in the same fight had a go about my healing.

The number of times I saw a long dps being attacked and I would heal them. Together we should have won. Instead the dps would run away leaving me to die.

Only a couple of examples but it added up after awhile. I got fed up with the BS and went back to dps only.

I think it’s more the pressure of what being a tank means. Not in the way that it’s like a black belt and your some ascended master, but the expectations that if your not that people are going to try and hurt your feelings. That’s the part if stopped people would realize anyone can do it.

I don’t know my dungeons all that well and if I stop at a cross roads for more than 20sec to check my map I’m sure someone will say something. If I do it twice I’ll prolly get called retarded. If I’m new to tanking and just grabbing small groups for the groups safety, I won’t get a subtle nudge saying I can go faster. It’ll most likely be “omg why is this tank so slow”.

As this thread demonstrates however, that is my right as a dps. Do your job better tank so I can see my numbers go up or I’m gonna get real nasty. /s

This is applicable to everything lmao

If tanks are exceptional, they get noticed. If a dps is exceptional, they get noticed. Same for a healer.

If someone is aggressively mid, they’re not noticed.

If someone is bad, they’ll get noticed.

I mean it’s just a silly statement to make

Oh wait, I know what will shut you up and stop correctly people on the tiniest of details in casual chat threads.

You’re right! Have a great day.

Correcting *

Also, it’s okay to admit you’re wrong instead of acting like a resentful child

The fringe benefit of how mystified the tank role is;

most people have no clue if you’re any good at it. Healer knows if you’re mitting, usually, and the DPS get a feel for your positioning, but largely beyond that they have no clue what they’re looking at.

That’s why you have so many supporters of YPYT garbage.

That is not a tiny detail. Pet aggro does not make group content easier for the specs that can use them in the open world.

The big numbers make the happy juices go up in your brain.

I just point to all the posts on here. Healers and tanks told they are no good and or being kicked. A dps, as long as they dont actually suck, can just hide in plain site.

I made the typo on purpose to see if my threadstalker would correct me. Also, I play a BM hunter and have zero issues with my pets handling the load. Not everyone knows how to get the most from their pets. It’s cool. The give me crap in EVERYTHING thread and will make a point to comment, even 300 comments deep having never even said a word in it.

GD is not my basis for what constitutes truth, lol

I think you should spend some time determining what constitutes excellent, mid, and poor play across the three roles.

When you’ve done so, you might find that exceptional groups don’t want mid players.

Mid players don’t want bad players.

Bad players don’t want bad players.

There’s not some wild bias against healers or tanks. People just want people to do their jobs well

Yeah, we’re done. Like I said… have a great day.

Well… I’ve healed on and off for several years and it’s no longer a good balance of challenging and rewarding. I have enough stress offline I really am no longer enjoying the… excitement that is healing.

I do not understand why it takes being challenged even in the most civil way possible for you to act like this, but alright.

Youre either reading too much into it, or just want to argue. Both are on you.

Well, neither. I saw a post that didn’t make a whole lot of sense and explained why it didn’t make a lot of sense

Deflecting to my motivations is as silly as it is transparent

Defend your comment or don’t. Both are on you

Because it has fewer responsibilities at most levels of play.

You can’t just fly under the radar as the tank.
