I see tanks are in need and healers are always skating uphill but cmon dps!
You mean to tell me we all want to just turn our brains off and follow the tank? Just doin high numbers and flexing? Of course it’s a tradition to point out everyone else’s flaws and take the easy road but is that all there is? I say we need even more dps. I don’t need to know the route or mechanics. I just stay out of the fire and do interrupts.

Tanks and Healers are typically the most stressful. Especially in M+. DPS can just hide in the background and do their thing. If they dont screw up too badly, they arent even noticed.

Easier to level and do open world content with, lower responsibility relative to tank / heal, easier to see progression of power with dps meter, et cetera.

Tank is responsible for knowing routes. Healer has to wrangle cats. DPS kills baddies and kicks stuff, plus transfers to PvP well.
No one was watching PvP healer montages in 2004

Different needs and wants.
I haven’t mained a DPS role since like 2016. In Classic im Rdru main. Right now I’m BrM main.
In Shadowlands I only played healers for raids. Tanks and Healers were my mains for keys, but I also had Outlaw rogue doing low 20’s though…

Also as a dps, I never get yelled at or called trash. All I hear about are tank problems, boo hoo.

Because it’s very low risk.
No stress. You do bad dps? No worries hopefully the other two make up for it.
Don’t kick? Hopefully the healer can fix that, the tank can survive it.
Need to afk for a second. Go for it prob wont matter.
Don’t know what those mobs do? Why do you care. Not your problem.
Just show up. Push some buttons. Blame everyone else if it goes poorly.
As a healer or tank you have to have pretty in depth knowledge of every pack. Every mechanic. Every boss.
You have to be locked in the whole time.
How many dps actually customize their plater- little wigs - WAs and UI to show every ounce of relevant information.
It’s not only a bit more stressful in the key but you have to do a tremendous amount of organizing and preparation before going in to be successful.

Allegedly the people I play with are bad at DPS, otherwise I’d be tanking. Never healing though, I can’t comprehend health bars going up instead of down.

I only tank because I like the challenge of surviving, however there is an Adrenalin rush being top dps and on the snowy days I dps I find it really fun to compete on the meters. I think it really boils down to the big numbers and the thrill of beating the other 4 people in the group.

I switched to Disc, well I intend on doing keys as Disc anyway.
This is the best of both worlds imo. I get to heal and still am DPS minded. Looking at Damage Done to gauge healing is funny also. I’m surprised how unpopular Disc is right now. Pres is the new “sleeper” healer with the awkward play style.

If I care enough, I’d make a meme of the close up of Morpheius from the Matrix where he says what if I told you…
This would say “what if I told you DPS already had the harder job in this game than tanks”.
Because it’s effing true. Any slob knob can tank. Tanking is a fundamentally easy mechanical role that also comes with a side benefit of getting away with a ton of mistakes that no DPS or healer, save those with immunities, survive. They also are next to never looked at in the almighty DPS meters in pug raids.
Any half decent DPS also knows the pulls and bosses in a key as well as any tank does. They know what stuff needs interrupted, which mobs do the mean swirls, which does a buff/debuff, etc. Right of bell curve DPS are NEVER done being compared and improving their DPS either and the more skilled you get, the harder you have to work AND the smaller your actual gains are.
I tank almost exclusively in this game. The few times I DPS I shame myself so hard when I’m in runs with my peers it just makes me not want to do it because while I get the job done, being solid 3rd place and way closer to the tank than them just makes me feel like a failure and a carry.

I love tanking just not pugging it. So haven’t really done much this xpac outside of delves, waiting for friends to catch up.

A bad dps is always replaced faster than a bad tank. The group will explain the mechanics and baby step you through.
Low dps “Kick em!” Youre thrown away and once taken out the raid roster GL ever keeping up or regaining that spot. Feels like you miss your chance you may as well reroll.
But really i believe no one has it great in pugs. Its a terrible time lol

I choose a class, not a role. As such… I chose BM, sure I wish it were melee like how some people wish SV was ranged again, but I’ll live with it since it’s the only Hunter spec with a mass summon.

I would tell you that you’re wrong, because every role has things they should be doing but if a tank or healer turns their brain off the party wipes.
Yeah being good at your class is more difficult than phoning it in but here we are.

I already babysit a bunch of man children at work. Last thing I want to do is do that in game. It was better before they did the m+ changes. After that. I just said no thanks. Retire the tank. I want a real +5 not whatever +5 is now.

When you do real content levels, then healers are the one with the most freedom to turn their brains off because the better the players play, the less actual healing needs to be done along with the fact the players are doing more to keep themselves up.
I never said tanks are free to turn their brains off either…just that it takes far less actual brainpower and mechanical skill expression to perform the actions required to “tank good” than it does to be a “pumper” DPS.
We’re not talking stupid babymode queue content or +2-3 key levels (or past seasons up to double digit keys). Real content where you don’t have the luxury to have a floor mat tanking the dirt for your team.
